Another religious couples thing

Nowhere near as serious or crap as Mike's situation but anyways...

This girl i know who you could say i dig quite seems like she's hinting for me to ask her out, which is fine by me cos she's great and there's been something there since we met but I'm pretty sure she's a hardcore Christian.

Not that there's anything wrong with that at all but I'm talking, she doesn't drink (though she smokes which kinda dumbfounds me?) and is a pretty close follower of the religion whereas it;'s fair to say i like the odd brandy at Christmas and it's kinda late to be waiting on my honeymoon to get laid so is it just a train wreck waiting to happen or can it be pretty cool havign 2 compeltely different "personalities" in a relationship?

never been faced with this situation before on account of most people not giving a shit about religion here, certainly not alot of teetotal folk here and me having a penchant for going out with ****wits just like me so what's the script?

who knows she could be a good influence?

Give it a try. Problem is you sound like two fundamentaly different people, even before outside influences get involved. You never know though - ppl aren't always what they appear on the outside!! Worth getting to know her better!!

true that. N I'm getting a "it;s always the quiet ones" vibe from you :) which is cool by me.

The only thing that's bothering me is the whole not drinking thing because seriously about everything I do social wise involves drink n even though I've been out clubbing with her before (hence why i know she doesn't drink)

I should see her tomorrow. I just found out today that she's in my law class and probably my economics even though Ive knew her from september. I suppose we both really should start attending or else we'd know that :)

Does she not drink because she thinks it will condemn her to hell or because she doesn't like alcohol? If she doesn't mind that you drink, it shouldn't be a problem. I hung out all weekend with girls who were drinking and aside from one Malibu rum/pineapple juice, I drank water the whole time. I don't like the taste of any other alcoholic beverages I've tried. But my not drinking didn't damper anyone's fun. Some people just don't like it, but don't care that others drink. Besides, at least she'll be around to drive if need be. ;)

Nah I just think, you know when you're younger n you think i'm not going to drink because it;s stupid nw hatnot then you do drink and think hey this is pretty decent n some people drink and think nah im not that bothered. i think it's one of those scenario's.

I dunno i just pissed Ashlea off somethign chronic at tmes through drinking. Not doing anythign stupid or bad really and my bro says she just blew stuff out of proportion so everyone would feel sorry for her but it's made me more aware of that aspect when I'm with someone.

I have been out with non religious guys and I do find it difficult because their foundation in life is different to mine. But I think its still worth a go, it will be an experience, hopefully a good one for you.

ben doesn't drink.... because he doesn't like the taste of it....
i told ben very early in the relationship i wouldn't sleep with him before we were married... and he respected that.
(after he showed that was fine i explained why... that it was more to the fact that my ex tried to rape me than anythign else)

so just to say its possible jim, if you're willing to talk and come to a conclusion.. and compromise

I don't think I could be with a guy that NEVER drinks, though it probably would be easier than being with someone who often drinks too much. I dont' mind drinking even if it is too much occasionally, but I don't want a guy that falls on his face upon leaving a bar or continuously gets cut off at the bar.

My friend is in a relationship with an alcoholic and I cannot understand how she can stand it --- it would drive me insane --- even though I like alcohol.

Like Becky said, the fact that someone doesn't drink doesn't necessarily mean that they mind others to drink or that they themselves aren't any fun. Plus it is great never having to argue about who will be the designated driver any given night ;)

As others have said, just try it out --- what would you know? She could be a rather positive influence on you :)
