I've always found it very ironic that despite all of Henry's efforts his only male heir was so weak that the law had to be changed so that a woman could ascend to the throne. He could have stayed put with CoA after all! Oh! And also - Anne Boleyn didn't cheat on him. She was in love with him. The supposed "lover" was her half brother or something, wasn't he? And the trial and process was all very blurry and confessions were forced out of tortured men who would have said anything and accused anyone in order to be released (not that I totally blame them!) Just because love was a very painful thing for him. So he gave love a bad name. No joy in his conception of love......... |
