:icecream: The last live act I saw was The Milton Keynes show on the 10 june 2006. It was awesome! Bon Jovi Rock
|
Just got back from seeing Tool, was good even though I only knew three songs ... Might write a review at some point, but don't hold your breath ... still got to write ones for GnR and both Bon Jovi shows as well!
4 gigs out of 6 down in my 12 Days of Rock! |
Foo Fighters at Hyde Park with Motorhead, Queens Of The Stone Age, Angels And Airwaves and Juliette & The Licks
As a whole day it was great, five really good bands. Will do a proper review later ... all these reviews I'm promising should be here next week, promise! Foos put on a hell of a performance ... joined by Lemmy for a performance of the Probot song Shake Your Blood, and Brian May and Roger Taylor for some of We Will Rock You, and Tie Your Mother Down sung by the Foos drummer Taylor Hawkins. All of which was indeed very cool, but was somewhat overshadowed by the otherwise incredibly predictable setlist (all the hits, nothing off the first album, In Your Honour the only album track) and the fact that they only played for AN HOUR AND TWENTY MINUTES!! If you're gonna headline Hyde Park, you gotta play for longer than that! |
Bon Jovi - 7th June - Coventry Ricoh Stadium - 8/10
Bon Jovi - 9th June - Southampton St Marys Stadium - 7/10 Bon Jovi - 10th June - Milton Keynes Bowl - 10/10 Bon Jovi - 11th June - Milton Keynes Bowl - 9.5/10 Bon Jovi - 13th June - Hull KC Stadium - 5/10 BRING ON GIANTS!! |
Def Leppard yesterday @ Sheffield Hallam Arena.
Quality show, not quite as good as Bon Jovi, but to be expected with a smaller venue I guess, still top atmosphere, dunno why they opted for an indoor event... support was crap though. |
Southside Johnny at BB Kings Jazz Club in NYC. It's a very small supper club type venue - perfect for SSJ's type of music. Bobby and Jeff were back playing since Bon Jovi's European tour is over. I must say that the new guitarist that has been playing with the band since Bobby has been on tour is FAR better than Bobby will ever be. His name is Ricky Byrd and he rocks. Jeff is an excellent keyboardist though. Some of you may know that SSJ's entire horn section is on tour with Bruce as part of the Seeger Sessions Band. So the quote of the night was:
"My horns are on tour with that other guy - singing polly wolly doodle all the god damn day. :) I recorded this and as soon as I can cut up the tracks I'll post it on dime. I doubt that the sound will be great as the venue sound had almost no separation and was pretty dead. As far as I'm concerned very few put on as good a live show as Southside and if you ever have the chance to see him and the band you should. Kathleen |
Def Leppard, Cheap Trick and Sensational Alex Harvey Band at Hammersmith Apollo last night. Quick reviews:
SAHB - Awful Cheap Trick - Started off a bit iffy, got really good by the end though ... played slightly too long however I reckons Def Leppard - Great! But a bit too short set ... only an hour and a half And so my run of gigs comes to an end :( Time to start writing some reviews and getting on with real life! |
Saw DL at Sheffield on Saturday...

Def Leppard et al was my latest show as well...
I thought CT played a long time (although we did miss most of the set) Def Leppard were really good though! And as it happens, my run of concerts has run out for now as well. |

I saw Bruce in the beginning of May and it was good, it was very good! I don't normally like the type of music his latest album is but the concert was so good, and the atmospheare was great, only a few thousand people... I've had Erie Canal playing in my head ever since :D |
Def Leppard in London and they were ****ING AMAZING!!!!!!
First time I've seen them and I recommend them to anyone, even if you only know a few songs. They had so much energy and as a live act in general they were fantastic! (I'm tempted to say they were better than Bon Jovi....) |
saw the Arctic Monkeys & Scissors for Lefty in Berlin last night.
Initially I only bought the ticket because it was cheap. The album is ok, but there are definitely much better ones out there. Must say I really enjoyed the show, especially scissors for lefty were really really good. i think i'll buy their cd. the arctic monkeys were very arrogant, but played well and the sound was good too. i love the singers voice btw, esp. his accent :D just one thing bothered me: they tuned their guitars after EVERY song. hello?! can someone please get the guys a guitar tech??? |
Rascal Flatts at Palace of Auburn Hills -Detroit
|
Bruce at Madison Square Garden and then again outdoors in the pouring rain last Sat night. I will be posting my recording of Madison Square Garden on dime as soon as I finish cutting it into tracks.
I have been a Bruce fan for most of my adult life and I enjoyed this Seeger Sessions stuff at the first concerts in Asbury Park. Unfortunately, the material does not hold up over multiple concerts. The concerts were very repetitive simply because this band does not know the backlog of songs that the E Street Band does and therefore the setlists were pretty static. Kathleen |
Robbie Williams - really, really good. He gives an amazing show and he has a brilliant voice. Good interaction with the crowd aswell. As I didn't have the new album yet, I was glad he still played a lot of the old stuff.
|

Red Hot Chili Peppers with ! ! ! supporting
Damn good performance, some of the best jamming I've ever seen, fantastic levels of musicianship, bit short though (1 hour 55 minutes), bit predictable setlist, and a bit too much of a casual crowd, the only real jumping around was to By The Way. I really need to get round to writing proper reviews of all the gigs I've been to over the last couple months |
