I saw Roger Daltrey and Eric Clapton last night. I thoroughly enjoyed the show. Daltrey sounded better than at the Super Bowl and mixed songs from The Who with some blues stuff and some Gaelic-influenced stuff. I'm not sure he's quite sure he wants to be an opening act again . . . mentioned it a couple of times . . . but obviously he agreed to it! LOL Clapton was Clapton. Low-key but oh, so impressive. I was in heaven. Seb tells me that we even got a rarity in I've Got a Rock 'n' Roll Heart which I thought was fabulous!
I'm including some pics here, because Dicanio asked about my new camera (Sony DSC-HX1) after I mentioned it in last night's PBP thread. I wasn't happy with my attempts at video, but the pics from the camera's first concert were amazing. http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...DSC00104-1.jpg http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...DSC00107-1.jpg http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...DSC00146-1.jpg http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...DSC00186-1.jpg http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...DSC00201-1.jpg http://drycounty.com/jovitalk/showthread.php?t=50459 |

Great pics Terri. I was looking at that camera but it was out of my budget.

Those pictures are just incredible Terri - I know you were close but when you can see whiskers like that in such detail - that's a good picture :)
You will shoot some Jovi up close and get ones just as good......right? |

Sounds like a great show! The Who are one of my favourite bands and I'm also a pretty big Clapton fan, especially in terms of his various bands in the 60s/70s. Would have enjoyed that gig. Great pictures too.
|
Excellent pics. You've seen two living legends there. The Who are my favourate band, and although Roger Daltery's solo stuff is pretty patchy you can't deny that he's one hell of a great live performer. The best gig I've seen was probably The Who live at Knowsley Hall in 2008. Awesome gig! As for Eric, I saw him back in 2006 when he did his Back Home tour. He was good, though I was a little disappointed because his band was so huge and I didn't really get to see him shine as a solo artist. I hope you saw a better show though milo. Glad ya enjoyed it.

well i just got back from work and tonight i got to see katherine jenkinsle, i wasn't really looking forward to this to be honest with her being an opera singer etc but she sings pop songs aswell so i thought it'd be ok.
Anyway she was brilliant, her voice is absolutely stunning and it really blew me away :p The fact she's stunning had nothing to do with it ... |

Eric Clapton - guitar / vocals Chris Stainton - keyboards Walt Richmond - keyboards Willie Weeks - bass Steve Gadd - drums Michelle John - backing vocals Sharon White - backing vocals Clapton is the only guitarist on-stage, so aside from a few extended keyboard solos, it really is non-stop EC. I loved it. :D |
Hot Chip :D
i loooove their albums; unfortunately the show was a bit disappointing :( |
Scorpions...on Monday:) They were great:)
|
Frank Turner tonight in Manchester. Awesome gig. Seeing him again in Leeds tommorow. I'd recomend him to anyone.
|
Saw star wars in concerts the other day (basically the royal philharmonic orchestra play the main tunes in the sountrack while a screen behind them shows clips from the film) it was suprisingly good, i really enjoyed it :D

I saw Daughtry last night in New Jersey. I had great seats eight rows in front of the center cat walk. Great seats for under $75. They were great. Chris was very energetic and played songs off the debut record and Leave This Town. Despite what some say, Chris has stage presence. He did an awesome cover of Rebel Yell and In The Air Tonight.
Can't wait to see them in June and do the meet and greet. |
I also saw Daughtry last night. The band rocks, but the crowd was a disgrace. My seats were in a lower level section on the side of the stage, pretty close and everybody was sitting down the entire time. Most people left before the encore, lazy bastards. Chris mentioned Bon Jovi and asked who was there when Daughtry opened for them. :)

30 seconds to mars.
they sucked :o  |
oh....enno bunger and bye bye bicycle were really good! :D
|
The 3 Degrees/ The Drifters/ The Four Tops/ The Temptations
3 Degrees were good, the drifters were rubbish, the four tops were amazing and the tempations pretty good :) |
Very nice pice pictures indeed Terri. I have/use the Sony DSC-H50 myself and the results of it are amazing. The latest concert I been to was Paul McCartney. Pictures of that concert can be seen via this link:
http://www.woutersworld.com/gallery/...?album=2&pos=0 Also take a look at the other pictures I uploaded into several albums. They all been made with the same camera. I really like to make pictures at concerts and hope for a few awesome shots. Upcoming concert: Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood at Antwerpen. Not sure if I'll my take my camera with me at that show of Bon Jovi in Paris since I am in a foreign country then. I salute you, TS |
You don't care about jam-bands, but as the one other European (Dutch) guy I met at the Jam in the Dam festival said to me last night "I'm into the rock and metal scene, but this to me is pure music".
He was clearly right, and there was clearly a lot to offer the rock and metal fan, besides obligatory Pink Floyd covers. Umphreys McGee played rock, dub, thrash, funk, dance, soul (and Comfortably Numb)- essentially prog rock you can dance to (but way cooler than that sounds) and musicianship that is frankly pornographic. Not just technically, but real heart and real melody. EVERY cool influence you could wish for in a band is there. Les Claypool played his dark, swampy, funky metal. Yonder Mountain String Band brought the bluegrass and what ever kind of music it is the Band play (and despite Double Bass and Mandolin, a faithful cover of Goodbye Blue Sky). You have no doubt why 1000 Americans (and like 50 Europeans) make the trip every year to hear this music. Each band played 3 two hour sets and not one song repeated. I have to smile checking out the PBPs on this board. I took some pictures. http://lh5.ggpht.com/_P2n15I16Mxs/S6...jitd%20404.JPG http://lh3.ggpht.com/_P2n15I16Mxs/S6...jitd%20233.JPG http://lh6.ggpht.com/_P2n15I16Mxs/S6...jitd%20117.JPG http://lh3.ggpht.com/_P2n15I16Mxs/S6...jitd%20091.JPG http://lh5.ggpht.com/_P2n15I16Mxs/S6...jitd%20229.JPG http://lh6.ggpht.com/_P2n15I16Mxs/S6...jitd%20085.JPG http://lh4.ggpht.com/_P2n15I16Mxs/S6...jitd%20267.JPG http://lh4.ggpht.com/_P2n15I16Mxs/S6...jitd%20382.JPG |

I've got tickets in June, and depending on whether the lady at the arena lied to me or not about which way the floor seats are numbered, I'm either right on the catwalk . . . or as far away as you can get from it. After TM fees, the tickets here in Atlanta came to just over $50, and this is at an arena with FREE parking! I sure hope that cover of Rebel Yell stays around. Who doesn't love a little Billy Idol? ;) I've heard from a lot of people that Chris does a great job with the song. |

You should get some great shots of Clapton. He's not so tough to photograph since he doesn't go zooming around the stage. ;) And I'm missing something -- why wouldn't you take your camera to Jovi in another country? |
I saw Tom Mc Rae at the Cirque Royal in Brussels. I really enjoyed the songs from his first album: End Of The World News (Dose Me Up), Bloodless, The Boy With The Bubblegun. He has such a great voice that makes every word he sings so intense... Amazing performance.
Yodelice at the AB, in Brussels too. He's french but sings in English (in a perfect accent) The french actress Marion Cotillard made a surprise appearance on stage. She sang backing vocals, played percussions and sang a duet with Yodelice. It was an incredible concert from start to finish. The stage set up and the lights were amazing. |
Went to see John Spillane last night, very Irish, very funny

Went to see frank turner at the roundhouse last wedensday, one of the best ****ing gigs i've been do, definatley going to see him when he's next in town, cannot recomend enough :D
|
Amy Macdonald at the Colston Hall, Bristol.
It was AMAZING. First time I've ever been front row at a gig, it was surreal. Amy's vocals blew me away and she took the time to talk to the audience on a regular basis. Put on a fantastic show. Also did a great cover of Born To Run :D And I'm usually very protective of that song and dismiss every cover of it, but she did good. And she also smiled at me multiple times :D I think I fell in love. |
Saw Muse last tuesday. Hot diggity, a good show, but there was absolutley
NO crowd interaction. All I heard the whole show was "hullo, were muse" adter the 3rd or 4th song. However the vocals and instramentals were done very well live, and the energy in the building was worthy of goosebumps. Highlights: Uprising, United States of Eurasia, Supermassive Blackhole, starlight and (of course) Knights of Cydonia |

Anyhow yes, go check her out. She's great :D And out of curiosity - what was awful about the show you heard on the radio? |

I'm sure I'll have the opportunity to see her in the coming months ;) |
Jaret & Erik from Bowling For Soup acoustic last night.
2 & 1/2 hours of three-chord punk and juvenile humour is maybe an hour too much, but it was fun enough, really appreciated by the crowd. They seemed natural, (shitfaced,) old friends and that vibe spread. Doubt they had a setlist - just taking requests and playing whatever came to mind. |

It would actually detract from their show if they talked to the crowd imo. When i saw waters doing dsotm he never said a word all night and it didn't bother anyone in the slightest. |
I can legitimately get all "I saw them first" about Muse - Third on a bill headlined by Three Colours red at Manchester Uni a dozen or so years ago. They stole the show even then, and even then never talked to the crowd.
They basically haven't changed a bit, but they've really learned their craft and managed their career well. When they went from clubs to theatres, they didn't at first quite have the songs or the confidence to fill the larger venues, but toured and toured until they really had it down. When they moved to Arenas, they played a couple of one-off shows at Earl's Court before launching a national tour that scale. Every time they moved up a level, they kept ticket prices down to get new fans in. It's always been obvious their strength is the live show. |
Had great fun at Dropkick Murphy's last Friday. No "Badlands" cover, but not one song you could resist dancing to. Haven't spent so much time down the front in years (another benefit of being single).
Last night, Rufus Wainwright was ****ing beautiful. The first half was his new album Songs for Lulu perfomed as a single piece. He was in Mouning Dress for his mother (an absolutely fabulous black gown, enormous train, funereal procession on and off stage). Loss ran through the piece andstrikes a chord right now, so I left the first half in tears almost ready to go home. A second half of favourites was more uplifting; life affirming. ****ing remarkable show. |

I saw them at T in the park in 01 just before origin came out and none of the people I was with were expecting much because all we knew them as was "that radiohead rip off" Long story short, even then they were amazing live and every single one of us had them down as our favourite band we'd seen that weekend. |
saw Alice Cooper a few days ago. I thought I was going to see Alice Cooper with Rob Zombie supporting, but hell no. Alice Cooper OPENED for Zombie. I liked Alice much more better live... Rob Zombies show was a little too Satanic for my liking... Not that I care that much but it was way too overdone.
Setlist seemed pretty basic: 1.School's Out 2.Department Of Youth 3.I'm Eighteen 4.Wicked Young Man 5.Ballad Of Dwight Fry 6.Go To Hell 7.Guilty 8.Cold Ethyl 9.Poison 10.From The Inside 11.Nurse Rozetta 12.Be My Lover 13.Only Women Bleed 14.I Never Cry 15.Vengeance Is Mine 16.Dirty Diamonds 17.Billion Dollar Babies 18.Killer 19.I Love The Dead 20.No More Mr. Nice Guy 21.Under My Wheels However, I was dissapointed that there was no encore.... Oh well. But Im fairly sure they played longer than Rob considering he played like 14 songs or something. |
