CELEB INSIDER: Bon Jovi Acting Up a Storm
With two new movies coming out in the Fall, singer/actor Jon Bon Jovi admits he's much savvier when it comes to the acting world. 'My first time on the first movie I did, 'Moonlight and Valentino' in 1994, they were doing several takes,' explains Bon Jovi. 'Unbeknownst to me, they do several takes in movies. I thought it was all my fault and I offered to pay for the film. The director was like, 'No, no, no. This is how movies are made.'' It's a good thing he found out otherwise, making movies doesn't come cheap. So how did the once big-haired rocker make his way from the stage onto the set? 'I wrote the soundtrack to 'Young Guns' many years ago and went to the set, and I enjoyed watching what they were doing because they were learning hobbies - how to ride horses and shoot guns,' he responds. 'For nothing else I thought I would get information from this to write songs but because they were learning other things within the compounds of the art, I started taking acting classes.'
Though his last notable appearance was on 'Ally McBeal' in 2002, we'll be seeing a lot more of Bon Jovi, feathered bangs and all, with a guest appearance on 'Las Vegas' and the release of the two movies. 'One of them is a smaller thing. I play this school teacher at a private high school. It's more one of those teenaged thrillers,' he notes about 'Cry Wolf.' 'Then I play the owner of an all women's hockey team so it's a sports related movie,' he says of the comedy 'The Trouble with Frank.' Though Bon Jovi enjoyed branching out, he admits, 'I think I prefer drama but you take what you can get.' But don't think he has forgotten about singing. The boys will have a new album out in the Fall. 'There's a lot of stuff,' Bon Jovi says with a smile. 'You're going to be sick of me.' As if that were possible.
