Gig yesterday *g*

hi there!
yesterday we had a concert night in my studs hall- there were 3 bands and the show was closed by the "schillerheim allstars" a band consisting (mostly) of ppl from my students hall. i was the lead-singer . i drank my first beer at about 18:30 and we started playing at about 22:00 which means that i had about 4 beers before we even kicked off. and i was quite drunk for i'm not a (very) heavy drinker... but i was the one with the lowest blood alcohol level of the band (my brother had 5 or 6 beers i guess) and the crowd was also drunk as hell... so we entered the stage and the crowd (bout 200 ppl) roared... the set list (as far as i remember)

1. I'll be over you (TOTO) my brother and the guy who put this whole thing up are big toto fans and so we played that one... i thought it was a strange opener for it's a ballad but it kicked ass (though i had trouble with the lyrics) the big clue was that the first guitar solo was played on trumpet instead- he was the killer

2. Little Wing (Hendrix) my brother on vocals- did a very good job; many many guitar and piano soli

3. Ain't no sunshine (Bill Withers) the third ballad- the crowd cheered as hell, though. i completely missed the first tunes- that was kinda rotten but i got in tune soon i think- can't tell for sure cause we killed the pseudo-monitors we had and i didn't really hear what i was singing- but the beginning was rotten- that's for sure

4. Smooth (Santana) the first non-ballad. again i didn't hear what i was singing cause it's extremely deep and the monitor was shot... but i think i did a proper job- the chicks in front of me went gaga. we did an extended solo part (guitar, keyboard, percussions) it was fun...

5. Millonig-Song/Stir it up (Freestyle Raggae/Bob Marley) this is a funny thing- in my brother's etage there's this guy called Millonig (surname) he's a total raggae fan and whenever there's a party in this etage my brother plays guitar and we always make a freestyle raggae- didn't think we'd really play it at the concert with the whole band- but it was a hell lot of fun... we played it in the "stir it up" style and we logically made a medley- i had nothing to do so i grabbed beer number 5...

6. Hoamweh noch B.A. (Ausseer Hardbradler) my brother on vocals- me on backing vocals- i was rotten again but i'm a medicine-man and not a musician so what the fack do you expect?

7. With a little help from my friends (Lennon/McCartney- Joe Cocker version) we gave it full speed and as far as i remember it rocked big time...

this actually was the last song which we planned- we completely forgot that there could be "we want more's" so we left but soon had to re-enter the stage playing songs we never played before- at this point i gotta add that we had only one rehearsal which was without the keyboarder and where we played only 3 of the planned 7 songs

8. Narcotic (Liquido)- i didn't know the lyrics for i hate this song- i printed them about five mins before we started- it was my bros idea- the crowd went gaga and knew the lyrics and they sang it facking loud so that i directed the mic towards the crowd and let them sing

9. Summer of 69 (BA) played deeper than the original which is darn high- was big fun- the crowd was totally out of control (beer costed €1,5 a pint) everybody danced, sang, had a good time- don't know how i sang- it was fun either way....

we left again cause we had nothing more to play- but the ppl (drunk as hell) wouldn't let us go and so some of us re-entered and played

10. My Way (Sinatra) with guitar, keyboards and trumpet only- was great... meanwhile i had my beer #6 and this was the point when it all got a bit blurred...

then they left- the ppl wanted to kill us again... so we re-entered again to play

11. I Am from Austria (Fendrich)- kind of the unofficial national anthem- i didn't knew the lyrics exactly but the crowd did- so i had 200 souffleurs

12. Weus'd a Herz hast wie a Bergwerk (Fendrich again)- my brother was my souffleur... it's a ballad and we had no clue how to play it- must've been funny for those who weren't drunk (meaning for verena my gf- for i guess she was the only sober person in that room)

again ppl went very angry when we left and my brother was getting angry, too cause he wanted to go to the next part of the evening: after-party. he was clueless so i took over and decided that we play

13. Livin' on a Prayer (BJ ) unplugged with my brother on guitar and with the keyboarder- we played a short version of it without any solo- the crowd cheered- sang loud as hell- the heat went down and we were finally allowed to go

was big fun and mistakes were no problem cause we didn't really rehearse and cause everybody (incl. us) was drunk as hell... the problem is that some guy recorded this shit with his camcorder... he told me today and i thought i'd kill him- i'll receive some photos soon and i'll post some of them

see ya,

Martin

And when will we see this on a torrent site  ?
It sounds as if you guys had fun and that is what counts. If the audience was happy - you should be happy.

LOL I would have loved to hear this. I like Fendrich very much, although he is Austrian :P.

gigs like that rule because everyones just out to have fun and there's no competition or bitching or whatever and no one cares if it's not perfect 8)

glad you had fun and I agree with summer of 69. it's amazing how much easier it is to sing even dropped half a key from D (something people might want to consider when bashing Jon for not singing in the original keys)

im hopefully having a party barbeque thing at the end of the month and I'm wanting to do a gig in my living room for it so hopefully it'll be as cool as yours
