its off a BJ Demos and B sides .

I think in the 80s a lady sang how long has this been going on , but it sounded completely different to the song Jon sung even though it has the same title.

Heres the lyrics from DC site. Anyone know when this was sung and why?

Covers
How Long Has This Been Going On?
George & Ira Gershwin

I could cry salty tears;
Where have I been all these years?
Little wow, tell me now
How long has this been going on?
There were chills up my spine,
And some thrills I can't define.
Listen sweet, I repeat:
How long has this been going on?
Oh, I feel that I could melt;
Into heaven I'm hurled!
I know how Columbus felt,
Finding another world!
Kiss me once, then once more
What a dunce I was before
What a break! For heaven's sake!
How long has this been going on?......

It's from the Glory of Gershwin CD. George Martin produced the CD and asked Jon to take part of it. Jon asked Richie to join him because of Richie's LOVE for the Beatles. There's a video clip of them in the studio where George said that Jon nailed the vocal in one take and Jon said that they spent most of the day listening to Beatle stories. Elton John, Sting, and Cher are some of the other acts on the CD. I really like most of the CD--I love the old standards.

thankyou, his voice is of very good quality in this recording and I wondered what era it had come from. Im surprised he seems to have been able to apply himself so well to this style of singing.

Im not really a jazz fan, but I dont mind the song. It was interesting to hear him sing like this.

Im curious to what he will sound like singing country . Wonder if singers can apply themselves to most types of singing.

Have you heard him sing Always on My Mind with Willie Nelson or Bang a Drum with Chris Ledoux? What about his version of "Only Make Believe" the old Conway Twitty song?

Jon's got a great voice to apply to different styles. His versatility is one thing I LOVE about his voice. Not all singers can be that versatile--even as powerful as Celine Dion's voice is, can you imagine her belting out It's My Life?

I have heard Always on my mind with Willie, I thought Jon sounded good but it didnt sound in a very country style to me, I thought he was just singing it Jon style, I will have to have another listen, its been a while..

Only make believe , I think I remember that, I will have to see if I can find it. I will let you know :D

Good point I can see what you mean about Celine and others are not so versatile.

Im off to my bed, night night.
