That's sad :(
I heard a few weeks ago that people can get addicted to their computers, especially checking their e-mails and faverite web sites. Some people check their work e-mails when they get home even if they have already answered them just so that they can look at them. This is the same kind of thing, it's a shame that nothing wil get done about it.

I spend a lot of my day at my pc, especially when I have coursework to do, but I sleep and eat and excercise and do other things too. I have never been addicted to anything, there are of course some things that I enjoy greatly but I can easily stop doing them if they become unhealthy. His family are at least partially to blame for not pulling the plug and getting him to see a psychiatrist.

"OK Picard, stick that in your pipe and smoke it..." were his last words.

hmmm sounds like a well balanced individual to begin with...

EDIT: striek that, reverse it. there's too many links to satires at the bottom of the page for me to take this seriously.

i don't know how this works in the states but here it would have been as follows: calling 144 (red cross) to take him to the hospital. "we" would have tried to persuade him that he needed medical help- he wouldn't come with us- we'd call 133 (police) they'd do the same thing, finally calling the police doc who has the right to make a forced committal meaning the police drag him to the hospital where he would have gotten a forced feeding and some talks with a psychiatrist...

I don't understand why his wife didn't have him admitted - surely she knew that not eating will result in death :?

I really like chocolate and crisps but I was eating them far too much so I pretty much stopped eating them, maybe having just a few things per week instead of several per day. I'm not addicted to anything though so it's not so much a case of stopping things with me but controlling really.

It seems too stupid to be fake, I doubt someone would bother to write up something like this.

I also heard once a man died from staying at a pc playing games for 2 days straight.
