Dentist Woes

Okay, I'm a little miffed. I made an appointment with a dentist today specifically because I have a couple of chipped teeth. So, they bring me in, take an x-ray and set up another appointment. HELLO? I TOLD them what the problem was. Why didn't they set aside enough time to do the job today? So, now I have to put up with one annoying jaw tooth all next week in Nashville. One of the ones that I thought was chipped is actually worn down from grinding and he suggested veneers for it and the one next to it for a lovely estimaded sum of $1400.

they all do that.

If you 'know' you have a hole in a tooth, they still will do the x-ray and stuff first and book another appointment.

I hate dentists, almost as much as obstetricians. I have no problems with optometrists, though I really do hate all doctors.

Now, how often do you need an obstetrician? :?

They're a bunch of damn idiots then. I'm lucky I have some time off work, but what about people who don't get a summer break? What if I had broken my tooth in September? I can't very well take two days off work just to get a tooth fixed. They ought to have more consideration of their patient's time. Any other time I've gone in for a cleaning and a cavity was found, they did the filling that day. It's been at least 10 years since I had one though, so I guess they've changed their practice. :x

 No, probably I am not getting the translation. Good you speak German, so I don't need to describe it and can tell you that it said "Geburtshelfer" here. :?:

Oh - LOL!!!! Nope, don't need those once a year LOL thank goodness. I guess that is technically right. Here is a brief explanation of the differences between gynecologist and obstetrician:

An obstetrician is a physician who has successfully completed specialized education and training in the management of pregnancy, labor, and pueperium (the time-period directly following childbirth).

A gynecologist is a physician who has a successfully completed specialized education and training in the health of the female reproductive system, including the diagnosis and treatment of disorders and diseases.

Though most of them are both, so they are commonly referred to as OB/GYN or common folks might just refer to them as obstetricians. Though technically, they mean a gynecologist ;)

I know in Germany a gynecologist does both by definitition, right?
