United ticket prices set to rocket

Manchester United fans face a huge rise in ticket prices as a result of Malcolm Glazer's successful takeover bid, according to a report in The Times.

The newspaper claims to have seen plans outlining an average increase of 54 per cent for United supporters within the next five years.

The report also alleges that Champions League ticket prices could be hiked up by 25 per cent from next year.

Well, here we go then. The fat f*ck's just appointed his 3 son's to the board of directors and this is what they have in store for us in the near future!

So it'll be like prices and profits going up while team going down. Not good. I used to like ManU.

apparently they want a cap of £25 million a year on transfers too.

That says more about the game in general than just man u considering how ridiculous an amount that is in the 1st place and the fact fans will probably be pissed off that they're limited to that.

The odd thing is that, Glazer being a multi-millionairre anyway, you'd have thought he would be quite a shrewd businessman and have exceptional market research advisers available to him. Despite this, did he really think that fans would welcome him with open arms or that the fans would just accept the debt he has placed on the club and be happy to pay higher merchandise and ticket prices?!?

true.

being in the rare position of having David Murray who's both a fan and willign to put his hand in his poclet when needed then i can't really complain. it must suck to support Man U, Celtic or anyone else whos chairman and board see it as a primary business venture.

Of the very few things I remember from doing a year of accountancy at uni was my old nutter economics teacher saying somethign to the effect of: Football is one of the stupidest things you can put money in if you expect any kind of return, even with the biggest firms. The only beneficial thing about it is it's pretty easy to launder a bundle of dirty money through them.

Not being too subtle about certain Russian oil magnates and Thai Prime Ministers int he premiership at the time 8)
