Net friends are for real...?

Do u consider ur close internet friends whom u never met as real friends...??. Or they are just name of the screen which u spend talking and not actually take much seriously and think they go away with time and not at all intrested in meeting in real life, if they ever decided to come and meet u...?

My friends on the internet, I DEFINATELY class as real friends. Without a shadow of a doubt. I dont even need to list the names of people just from JoviTalk for example who I would treat as normal everyday friends, because they all know who they are. The majority of them, they just happen to live in other parts of the country, or other parts of the world. It doesnt mean that they are not your friends.

Looking back a few years ago, there is no way, i would have anticipated this, but there is no doubt in my mind. Non-internet users believe that a lot of folk on the internet are very weird people, and the majority of them, seriosuly arent. Of course you do get the odd strange person, but thats only to be expected. I know the people who I have become friends with via the internet are deifnately not weird and people who I think about every single day of my life. Theyre part of my life now, and 90% of them always will be.

people here on JT, yeah. but on a couple other message boards i go to, no because there are so many people. i consider a few my friends, but not very many

There are a lot of people I have met online that I consider real friends. Some I might never ever meet but I can talk to them just like a real friend.

There are only two people from jt I talk to and I would like to meet them both one day.

The others are from another site and are american. I honestly dont know if I will ever get to meet them.

But I do consider them all real friends.

I consider my friends online to be just as valuable, and in some cases moreso, than ones I see here often. I've met a few people from here recently and hope to meet at least one more.

I find it easier to express myself online and "come out of my shell" more than I do outside, where I am quite shy, so I've found that I can connect on a higher level with people online.

I think Kev said it all perfectly. I have met people whose company I have enjoyed "in person" just as much, if not more than online. Perhaps it depends on which boards on the net you hang out on, but so far I have not met anyone personally that has been very different from what they awere online.

I agree with kathleen. It does depend on what message boards / chat rooms you hang out. At least with something like a Bon Jovi community, you automatically have something in common with everybody else. It isnt just like a general chat room where people just come on to spam and wind everyone up, this is a very friendly message board with very friendly people. I have met upwards of fifteen-twenty people from here now, and I can honestly say, that I haent met anyone strange. I would be more concerned to meet up with anyone who I hadnt chatted with properly first, and got to know them.

Here isnt just about Bon Jovi, these days it more about 'the users' and the friendships gained through it. Many of us have found out that we share a mixture of common interests and is probably why alot of us get along so well. We all participate in all kinds of discussions ranging from world politics to personal and family issues. This means we all get to know one another much better.

Like Kathleen, I have had so much fun meeting people off the internet and have actually found them to be even nicer in real life, than online. Its so much easier to make conversation with people when you have chatted online for a while, and then you know more about them, which makes it easier.

Going back to the 'Bon Jovi' part of my post, I have also found that, when I have met up with other users from here, we havent even mentioned Bon Jovi once! I think this shows just how much of a strong bond this board has with its members.

I have good friends that I've met online (especially from the shakiraholics forum) and to tell you the truth, some of them have been better friends to me than some people I see every day.
