Live 8: Get Bon Jovi off the stage

Technically, Bon Jovi is a hometown act at Philly Live 8, even though the band hails from New Jersey.

Geographic technicalities aside, it was evident from their performance at Philly Live 8 that Bon Jovi’s time has come and gone - in fact, it’s been gone quite a long time.

They performed “Living on a Prayer” for the nth time complete with that cheesy vocoder part. Then Jon Bon Jovi strutted out on stage like he was the Lord Savior.

Bon Jovi was bland and by-the-numbers at Live 8. At this point in their career, they’re pretty damn irrelevant and even diehard fans must feel let down deep within their souls.

everyones a critic and we all have an opinion.
I thought they could have done a better performance on Live 8, like having more interaction with the crowd or jon talking a bit in between at least one song, and doing the 4 songs jon said they were gonna do and not 3.
But I thought their performance was great either way, Have a Nice Day rocked and so did It's my life.

Honestly, I have to agree with them to a point. I turned off pretty quick during Living On A Prayer..it was completely uninspired. Jon did come off bored and uninterested. He almost seemed annoyed. He improved during HAND though. But really, they are far more capable.

On the other hand....if you don't know the difference between a talk box and vocoder..STFU.

:? :?:

I don't know I thought Jon was brilliant, I didn't think he looked bored at all, just the opposite, I thought he was very pumped and very excited.

He did Prayer perfectly which isn't an easy task.
HAND absolutely rocked and they did a great performance of IML.

I too was very surprised they did just 3 songs and said nothing. Very odd.

Perfectly is an overstatement, and once again, he didn't sing the high notes at all.

I got the same impression. It was so boring. I know they have to sing well-known songs for these kind of events, but for fans it's boring all the same.

I got to watch the three songs online and then on Spanish TV they only showed two - no HAND :( But Jon's movements and variations are so boring and predictable on thos two songs by now.

Jon's voice sounded better though IMO.

Am I the only one who absolutely loved the performance on Live 8, and every single bit of it as well? I was completely biased and thought they were AWESOME!!!! 8)

I watched it all day and (trying to be unbiased) I thought they gave the best performance of the day. U2 were awesome, so were The Stereophonics, Keith Urban, Rob Thomas and even Mariah Carey was good. Jesus, did I just say that  . Christ.

I thought Robbie Williams was an absolute prat, I think his performance was a bit of an insult to the cause.

I thought it was really good too. I did notice Jon did not do the whoa bit of Prayer...I think Richie kinda did that?

I love HAND. Tought it was excellent! Really love that song and cannot wait to go and hear it live myself.

Did think it was weird Jon said nothing...esp since Hand is a brand new song from the album.

Er, Prayer was crap, within 10 years Jon won't be able to sing the entire chorus anymore. He didn't even sing the whoah part after the bridge. It was slightly better than Borgata, but that's the best I can say about it.

IML was played slower than normal, and once again Jon struggled to reach the higher notes in the chorus. Basically Jon just sucked, once again. The guy can't even perform 3 songs in a good way.

I agree with all that's been said in the first post.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan
