No speech at Live 8?

I was wondering if jon said anything other than the final thank you to the audience. I'm asking this since i've seen the all the videos at AOL and in none of them jon spoke with the audience. Well that bites me, since i figured jon would deliver some speech about the event.

Anyone knows if he actually said anything?

There's a big hooplah gin on about this, I found it strange but I don't think it's that big a deal.
I think it's just us secretly wishing they wouldhave gotten more stage time. :wink:

It surprised me too that Jon didn't say anything. I thought he was gonna introduce HAND but didn't. Anyway we heard the full version of HAND for the first time so thats ok. Have to see if there's a boot copy floating around. :twisted: :P

I was shocked that he didnt say anything, he usually likes to do his deep and meaningful stuff. I figured that it must have been because he didnt have enough time, but still how long does it take to say one sentence.

People that were at Philly said that everyone was behind (timewise) before it started. I think everyone was asked to cut one song and keep it short. That may be one reason why there were no big speeches by anyone there.

i think its us secretly wishing jon was not *only* taking advantage of a show like live8 to promote the new album. like dawn said, one sentence wouldnt take time, or even some words during one of the songs... just something. to me it looked too much like promotion

Everyone knew why they were there, so I suppose words weren't really necessary. If they didn't believe in the cause, they wouldn't have played. Not much more to be said. Some artists just droned on to hear themselves talk. I am kind of glad that BJ didn't do that.
