Bon Jovi unlikely to tour Australia or France

Got this from melodicrock.com. Not sure if this is 100% true but... Read it yourself.

Fans in both Australia and France have started petitions to get Bon Jovi to include them in their upcoming tour. I ran this past my Jovi source, who sent back this detailed reply:
"The band is not coming to Australia for a proper tour at all. In all reality, it boils down to that it is not financially beneficial to play shows down under for American acts. By the time [artists] play and come back [to the USA], they truly do not have much money to show for a few weeks of very hard work. The Australian money does not translate well to America. Australian promoters were desperate to bring Springsteen in '03 and they did and lost loads of money.
In regards to France...they won't play because it's the only European locale the band does not fill stadiums in, so don't expect them to play a smaller sized arena there."

Well..yes...that may well end up being the case.

However, people power sometimes can change things...today on an aussie show [TODAY on the 9 network] they announced they have put the link to the petition on their website, encouraged everyone to go and sign it and are presenting it to the band when their entertainment reporter [Richard Wilkins] interviews them...it may still be a no go...but 9 weeks ago, we had absolutely nothing...us aussies have come a long way from nothing in 9 weeks. And to the members of BonJoviDownUnder - congrats guys on never backing down.

That's right Shaz and the number of signatures on the petition has exploded in the last week and with continued exposure of it it will continue to rise rapidly. So here's hoping for them to be back down here.

Melodicrock doesn't seem to be very reliable. They also spread the rumour that BJ would make two kinds of concerts. They collect "news" from forums without investigation if they are true. Not a sign of good journalism.

Number one, I thought Bon Jovi was for the fans.

Aside from that, look at all the bands that have come to Australia lately, hell, even some of them come to Adelaide. Now I am not asking for Bon Jovi to visit Adelaide, that just wont happen, but like most fans I am willing to travel.

Rob Thomas & Matchbox 20, Foo Fighters, Greenday, Nickleback, Black Eyed Peas, Simple Plan, Nelly..... are just a few and I can assure you, over the last couple of years they have had more hits than Bon Jovi. (Don't get me wrong, BJ is by far my favourite band but lets face facts.)

Now I know BJ are a much older band but is that any reason to ignore a potentially massive audience. Look at Rob Thomas for example. His solo album was not doing anywhere near as well as MB20 but as soon as he paid us a vist, album sales went through the roof.

Anyway, good luck to us.

A dissapointed Aussie fan
