"Always" Sung on Australian Idol

My favourite song, Always, was played tonight on Australian Idol; It was the semi-finals. The singer was actually from New Zealand, and unfortunately he sang like crap. However it was still exciting to hear my fav song on Idol.

You'll be able to watch it here soon. Just wait until "Semi Final Week 3" gets uploaded.

Why do they always pick Always to sing on these Pop Idol type shows? It can't be the easiest song to sing.

I've tried; It's a hard song to sing. Actually, in the quarter-finals a girl sung It's my Life, but she sang so bad i felt like throwing up. I mean her voice was ok.. but imagine someone singing Its my Life with a voice that isn't made for rock, and without any instruments.. ugh.

Shannon Noll, Australian Idol finalist, sang Livin' on a Prayer and it was also very bad. Now he has just written an album with Desmond Child.

IML is actually quite hard to sing. I've attempted it on a Karaoke and I was crap. I've seen others try too and they were also crap and outta key.

My band has covered it, and it's a fairly easy song to sing.
Alot easier than say Always or Fear.

It always amazes me that people think to cover a song and be good at it means that the song ends up sounding like the original. Personally, I like it when they are done in a different way, completely different voice, different style, different emotions... but then, I have no clue about the above referenced performance.

In Holland a guy also sung Always. He was the winning idol and his name is Jamai. I didn't like the way he sung it. Very soft and weak..

Yeah some songs are even improved when they are covered because the different vocals or emotions make it sound better to you. I find this with Jailbreak when Jon covered it in 97 on the DA tour. I think his vocals sound better than Phil Lynotts and it seems to be played a little faster than Thin Lizzy's version. I also think it seems to have a little more atmosphere to it.

And in the Polish Idol the winner sang Everyday and I loved it! That 18-year-old boy had his own hard-rock style and made it into a completely different song - a great version of a great song!
