Crossroads Opinion
So, those of you who saw it, what did you think?
I thoroughly enjoyed it! I was actually dancing around my room singing along a few times. That's what happens when a concert junkie like myself has been a while without any shows! LOL That was the best version of Wanted I've heard in AGES!!!! Jon and Jennifer together on "Just Might Make Me Believe" were breathtaking. What a FUN, FUN show!!! Jennifer really has a strong, solid voice. I knew that from seeing Sugarland in June, but knowing she can sing didn't mean she would necessarily sound good with Jon. I loved what she said about being so Southern that she sang "bliss" with two syllables. The Sugarland music was great played by Bon Jovi and Sugarland, for the most part, fit seamlessly in with Bon Jovi. IML was a little awkward at first. I loved the way Jon and Richie were joking around on stage and backstage too. It made the show even more fun. Best of all: a Bad Name free broadcast! Whoo-hoo!! Becky |
I really enjoyed it.... My parents and I sat down and turned it on and they actually enjoyed it more than I did! It was really awesome to see two very talented groups come together and literally make amazing music. Really really cool idea and I hope they make a DVD of this thing. My highlight had to be Have A Nice Day... Loved it! Oh... and for the record.... JENNIFER NETTLES IS GOING TO BE MY WIFE! She is the hottest thing to come along since Tabasco Sauce.
Here was "Bon Jovi's" Set... Livin' On A Prayer It's My Life Wanted Dead or Alive Have A Nice Day Who Says You Can't Go Home? Ryan |
I recorded it but didn't watch it :( Unexpected guests dropped by and I had to be polite dammit. I'll watch it first thing tomorrow.

Politeness is over-rated. LOL
The Sugarland songs were Something More (Bon Jovi esque lyrics, don't you think?) Baby Girl You Just Might Make Me Believe (Jonnifer.... you could believe that the way they were singing together!) Becky |
I thought it was good, but it was hard to hear Jon on the harmonies especially on Sugarland songs. Jennifer sounded great on "Wanted." A highlight for me was the rendition of "Who Says" Jon did by himself just before the full band version. I too wish they would put out a DVD, but as far as I know, Crossroads is not usually put out on DVD.

I saw 45 minutes of it. Jon was, in all honesty, pretty weak. He struggled with Wanted, which is pitiable. And, I could barely hear him on the duets because he was so undeniably timid. If this was ANY other band, people would laugh them off the stage. It is pathetic because it was only like 9 songs and spaced out over, probably, two hours. When Jon isn't belting out an anthem, he is JUST PLAIN LOST. He breaths incorrectly for the song style and has to squeeze out anything above the middle of the midrange. I wish they would have taken some risks and gone all out for this show, it is CROSSROADS, not CARPOOL. Mesh your songs, be inventive, and COLLIDE! Don't just play the same songs and switch off the verses! There were like 10 musicians out there for Christ's sake!!! Jam out a bit, solo...THAT is was this kid of thing should be...not just a nice show, because it just then becomes a missed opportunity. So what if your label forced you to do this, it ISN'T a bad idea, quit moping and ROCK.
The sugarland band was comical. The guy with the tiny guitar...thing. So much energy, and yet, I couldn't hear a damn not he played! It was hilarious, like watching Rudy...or the 4 year old trying to play guitar with his dad on a toy intrument. Very funny. You couldn't really hear any of them, except the slide guitar and the fiddle, which were alright and nice, but certainly nothing sophisticated like the stuff Richie does. Get a Jerry Douglass kinda solo in there or SOMETHING. I mean, Wanted would have been PERFECT for this. But no... There wasn't really much of a mix of sound except that it was awesome to see Richie take the reigns of solos in Sugarland songs... (can this band not solo at all or were they just showing deference for Richie?) Also, I think Jon doing some duets would be great, but he really needs to work on harmonizing. DO MORE, but practice a bit! And the way Jon whined out the first notes on WSYCGH before his little rap about life was almost heartbreaking. They are just midrange tones...Breath man, Breath...diaphragm...AND STOP SMOKING YOU ****ING IDIOT! YOU STUPID STUPID ****ING ASS. Ok, Now the positive Finally: Have a Nice Day ROCKED. Jon sounded great, she sounded great. She looked good and was very high energy and Jon TRIED to share the stage with someone new. It was cool. They should keep it up; the duets the energy. In the end, nothing really commemorative about this show except the pretty girl. Never thought I would say this about the band, but: I'm getting a bit tired of this crap... B |
Is there a place to download this online? I don't live in the US and so didn't get the chance to watch it. Thanks :)

Wow, some of you heard a very different show than I did. I've listened to it three times now with the surround sound blasting and have to say thet I thought it was one of Jons best vocal performances in awhile. His voice sounded strong and solid. Got to say I didn't hear him struggling with Wanted, in fact I thought it was one of the best performances I've seen of it in awhile. It was different not having Richie sing with him, which is what we are all used to but Jennifer did a great job with it I thought.
Hand was great, Jon can sing this song, he nailed it here. Prayer is what got me out of my seat though. Jon actually made an octave change and nailed it. It made me press stop and go back and watch again. Overall, I thought this show was well done, very energetic, and a blast. Everyone seemed to be having a good time and the two groups fit together well. I liked it. |
