Goo Goo Dolls - Better Days
I have a feeling there's a lot of Goo fans here, they happened to be my second favorite band, and they just put out their new single yesterday. "Better Days", its a great great song, a lil of a different sound for them, but it got to me. the lyrics are just beautiful
|
I havent heard much of the Goo Goo Dolls, only really know Iris and Big Machine, and heard Give A Little Bit a few times ... however, I've come to the conclusion that at this point in time they are virtually indistinguishable from where Bon Jovi are at now

Goo Goo Dolls is one of my favourite bands..can't wait for their new album
|
So, if one was to consider buying a GGD album, which one should it be?

A good choice might be What I Learned About Ego.......It's a "best of" that includes none of their more popular singles, such as Iris, Name or Slide. It has songs like Fallin' Down, Cuz You're Gone, There You Are, Just The Way You Are, Up Yours, 2 Days In February, Naked. The Goos kick ass. |

One thing I really admire about the Goo Goo Dolls is, their music has changed a bit, and become a bit more pop, but it hasn't gotten any worse. I still like some of the music off of Hold Me Up and SSCarWash the best, but there have been great songs on every album. |

I kind of like the goos, although I don't consider them to be a real rockband, more like some punk-pop-powerpop-rockband or something!
They got the speed, and sometimes the power, but it takes more then that to be a rockband in my world. Damn it, you can't categorizes them! It's so hard, I would say that the goos are the goos!! Btw. Their early records feel like punk, now when I think about it. According to me, best album is Gutterflower. |

And I second that. It's possibly my favorite GGD song. As for Better Days, it is OK...not my favorite Goo song ever, but it's not horrible. The GGD's are one of my favorites after Bon Jovi. I would suggest for a first timer, either Dizzy Up The Girl or Gutterflower. Both are great albums. There is also a DVD that they did, Music In High Places, done in Alaska...it gives a great idea of what the guys are really like and has some great performances by them on it. |
i cant belive no has mentioned their double live album cd/DVD set!!
This would definately be the best place to start of youd just getting inot the goos.. its basicly a best off, live (not like OWN at all) plus then theres the whole gig on DVD included aswell. Just wait till you see Iris live.. theres torrential rain all the way through it, amazing footage. And the director for the DVD is a certain Mr Bonjovi aswell... (no, not Jon you eijitts! the other one) andi |

indeed.
''TBJ'' productions or something to that effect i believe his company is called. andi |
the goos are amazing and the only thing you need to get into them IMO is the live in buffalo dvd(get the concert on audio cd aswell)
its an amazing concert they are so good live. definatly one of my fav bands johnny rzeznik is an amazing singer/frontman. and to think he never was a singer(too shy) until the bassist from GGD told him to sing in the early days. they were orinigally a punk band. johnny loved the sound of heavy metal guitars but never liked what heavy metal bands did with it. so the stuff he has said he wants to create still hasn't been done.using the heavy metal sound guitars but doing something melodic with it. the new album i heard will have hardly any ballad types like black ballon, iris, name one because he is not in that type of modd in his life now but he was back then. johnny IMO is one of the best lyricist aswell. black ballon, broadway, name, iris, slide, here is gone plus many many more are such great deep lyrics |
does anybody know when the album with 'better days' comes out? i've been looking but i cant find an answer
|
The song is awesome. I can't wait for the album to be released.
|
The beginning starts off a little slow for my taste, but as it goes along, it picsk up nicely.

I personally like the Music In High Places better. I love Live In Buffalo, but there's just something about the Alaska scenery and everything in the MIHP one that makes it special to me. And I love seeing the guys just hanging out...mudding with the local kids. It's so fun to watch. The Buffalo DVD shows how appreciative they are of their fans though. Most bands would have called it quits in weather like that, but the Goos just kept on playing!! |
