Tickets over priced

Does no one else think that jovi tickets are well over priced? look at the price for the glasgow tickets this year the cheapest you can get is £32.50 without postage or booking fee and its the shitest seats in the place! General standing is £35 thats what my golden ticket cost me last time they played glasgow now they want to chrage us £50 a ticket. I have heard of inflation but £15 in 2 years is a bit overkill. I used to be a big jovi fan to the point it was scary but since the crap with the fanclub i have started to see things different. Me and my other half are going to see Steve Vai for the same price as one golden ticket (before booking fee and postage!) and he could blow richie sambora away any day of the week!

Oh and if you need more convincing just look at the small private gigs they did in america where they charge $200+. They are heading down the same road as the rolling stones last time they played they asked about £75 a ticket.

What would say is too much to pay for a concert ticket for bon jovi?

Who the **** is Steve Vai?
Bon Jovi are one of the biggest bands in the world and precious few bands can do the type of touring Bon Jovi do and the fact is, even with these price hikes they're still very much at the low end of the big act market.

I was a little shocked at the price of the GC tickets for Wembeley but I was more then willing to pay that price for such a historic gig, so too much is certainly down to the individual to decide.

And I think it's very important to realise that it's not just Jon, Richie, Dave and Tico sitting down and deciding on the prices, there are big business realities that have to be taken into consideration, especially since this tour wont be that long. I wouldn't be surprised either if the decision to take the tour to Australia didn't play a factor in the rise in ticket prices.

As for the fanclub, well that's just the biggest joke imagineable. They are all about money and provide little or nothing of worth but as long as those blind fans over at backstage keep talking about how fantastic it is and wont tolerate any critisism of the organisation then you can be sure it will only get worse.

Bottom line, yeah tickets are pricy (what isn't these days) but they could well be considerably higher if the band or record company or promoters or whoever so wished.

I can't speak for European shows but the shows in the States are about $15.00 higher than they were in 2003 which in my eyes is not that bad, considering that 2003's shows were the same price as 2000's Crush shows. So in reality we have had one price increase in nearly 6 years which is pretty good in my opinion.
Take the following things into consideration: the price of fuel has gone up like crazy, for both jet and truck diesel and the band uses what, 10 to 12 semis and 5 or 6 tour busses (here in the US anyway) plus their plane. I personally wouldn't want to have to pay the fuel bill.

Security costs for venues has gone up like 28- 35% since 9/11. the venues are passing the cost along in higher service charges.

Stevie Vai is indeed an excellent guitarist but he isn't in one of the biggest bands on the planet now is he?? Of course tickets to see him are less expensive than seeing BJ. He's playing a small venue theater show , not Wembly. From the checking I've done Bj is still well below both Stones and U2 prices, so i guess I'm not really seeing what the complaint is.

I think, these prices are very correct, except wembley gc tickets, but that is THE exception (other bands have the same prices, like U2).

Which is, correct me if I'm wrong, £25 more than a BJ golden circle
ticket and £40 more than a general standing tick. Your point is?

The are not and never will be as big as the rolling stones but they are heading down the road of charging as much as they do for tickets, just give it another few years.

The whole point of a tour is to give back to the loyal fans for buying there albums not rip them off even further by expensive gig tickets.

I am also going to the glasgow gig and have seen them many times, you cannot expext ticket prices to stay the same over the years, there is a thing called inflation. I don't mind the price, I have golden circle tickets for Hampden, as Bon Jovi usually play over 2 hours so it is well worth the money. The band don't get all that, there are so many people who have to be paid for this and not to mention all the people who have to come away from families to pull the shows off, anyway, hope you go the the glasgow gig, it will be great

Jon is gorgeous 10-09-2005 10:37 PM

i dont care how dear the tickets are
ive been waiting for years to see BJ and would pay any price to see them
ive been saving for the last year so made sure i coudl get my ticket the day they came out

besides with BJ being one of the best bands in the world you are paying for the pure quality and upmost legends of rock!

Where did you get that idea.

The tickets for Bon JOvi shows aren't more expensive than for other bands who are as big as they are. Some bands/singers are way more expensive (Rolling Stones, Madonna for example).

I agree though that Borgata and esp. Elements where you only go to hear the album but no live play of the band were very overprices. But they were sold out very quickly and as long as the people are willing to pay that much money, they will take it. In the End it's a business. But tour-tickets are not more expensive than other bands. They are in a good avarage price.

Tickets in generel became quite expensive though. They are now more than 100 % more expensive than 10 years ago. That's a raise that is higher than at other things you buy.
