I havent been here all week and I havent got the time to read 17 pages, however I have read half.

As a lot of you know I have brought this subject up many times in the past.

In the beginning there was a profanity filter set up on this board to prevent people from swearing . This would then allow people from all over the world to access this site. Your choice to swear stops others from viewing this site , what right do you have to prevent others from viewing a site due to your selfish reasons of choosing to use a word. The f word apparently doesnt mean that much to a lot of you , you say its just a word. Well if its just a word then it wont take much to stop using it and think of others so they can access this board. So you are preventing others from having a freedom to view.

As for whether swearing is offensive , you cant say the f word to a policeman, you would be arrested. The f word is not printed in any daily newspaper etc or used on any tv prior to 9pm. Why ? Because it is considered unsuitabley offensive.

If its just a word , how many of you are teaching it to your children to say and spell . You know a child saying the f word is also not accepted and they will be punished in any school.

I just don't have the energy right now. I just got off work. There is just too much wrong with all of that. If someone else doesn't oblige before I have the energy....then I'll get on it.

Dawn, you yourself complained several times because people would still swear so filter or no filter if people want to use the word **** they will.

As I said previously the worst insults and most harming words come in a polite kind of package.

I don't think covering a child's ears (or using a beep) when some of these words are going to be used is going to make them a better person in the future.

People were going to great lengths to overide the filter just to use a word. They dont seem to have to go to these lengths anymore .

Whenever I mention this subject no one ever responds to my comments about their use of language preventing other peoples right from accessing this board !

I DIDNT say depending on the type of language a child uses would make them a better person or not.

However as you have brought the subject up its an interesting point to address : if a person grows up to use foul language frequently as if it is a part of normal everyday language, I doubt very much they would get the job if they said at an interview, yeah I want the f ing job, what a great fing place to work !

And how in fact a filter allows people to read the site? Or, lack of filter prevent anyone from reading? To read or not is still a personal choise. From all over the world? Geez, u know in some countries swearinf ain't life and death matter like it seems to be in your kingdom of heavenly good.

U just take ur hypocricy and shut the **** up

Or like I suggested eearlier, pray them bad things to go away.

I don't agree with dawn, but there is no need for you to tell someone to **** of just because of the fact that you have different opinions.

This is just stupid. If you can't handle other peoples opinion, you shouldn't take part in a debate.

That's the point exactly. Dawn and alikes only see things their way and consider it to be the absolute truth.

So? The resut is the same. And the lengths weren't so great if they actually wanted to write the word properly. And if they didn't what's the real difference between writing **** or fvck?

I have yet to hear of someone not being able to access the board because some server is filtering the language. Not saying it doesn't happen though. But it's also a person's right to use whatever words they want to use.

Then what's the point in covering their ears when th word is said if it won't really affect their behaviour?

You're right about the job interview thing but it's the company's loss if they won't hire the most qualified person just because he used a swear word during the interview.

And at any rate, I thought JT was a friendly community with friendly standards. We're not going by job interview standards here, we're going by a relaxed atmosphere such as you would feel if you were among friends. That's the point of the whole thing.

The difference is the network filter is programmed to catch the word **** but not the word fvck.
