Rolling Stones

I've been thinking about it, and I think it'd be cool if The Stones did open for Bon Jovi at Wembley ... dunno if they would do it, but everyones gotta let go of the ego a bit sometimes.

Anyway, my question is, did BJ actually open for the Rolling Stones, or was it just Jon saying he'd like to? If they did, when was it, and what sort of setlists were they (Jovi) playing? Anyone know?

June 30, 1995, Longchamps, Paris, France Setlist:
1. Rockin' All Over The World
2. Hey God
3. Livin' On A Prayer
4. You Give Love A Bad Name
5. Keep The Faith

that last one says june 30th, although i'm pretty sure it's meant to be july 1st. these are both from seb's site btw.

and no, i really don't think they'd do it, nor would bon jovi embarass themselves by asking.

And people say they're set-lists were so much better back in the day then they are now?

I'd be surprised if they'd do it or if Jon would seriously consider it. He has said that the one band he'd never follow on stage is The Stones cause "They'd kick your ass."

It would be mighty cool though.

given that it was a support gig, they could hardly afford to be massively varied. even given this fact, they still played two completely different sets from one night to the next.

Krycek 10-21-2005 09:25 PM

Yeah, still a very boring set. You would think though that in front of such a crowd they would've played some other stuff like "I Believe" or "Dry County" or "These Days" (if it was soon enough) in favour of the usual Bad Name, Bad Medicine, lay Your Hands on Me, stuff. I wouldn't say those went over well infront of a Stones crowd.

there is no way you could play a 12minute song as a support act amongst a set of 10 songs. i believe andthese days yes, but then again people could add songs to that list all day and there's always be others who wouldn't be satisfied. i think the sets, the second especially, are fairly varied and would portray the band in about the best light as possible in front of stones' fans.

Suuuure. Dry County, a 12 minute song during a show that lasts 45 minutes as a support act

Just for you, the setlist of a gig they did one day later on the normal tour:

3. You Give Love A Bad Name
4. Wild In The Streets
5. Keep The Faith
6. Blood On Blood
7. Always
8. I'd Die For You
9. Blood Money
10. Blaze Of Glory
11. Runaway
12. Stranger In This Town
13. Lay Your Hands On Me
14. I'll Sleep When I'm Dead
~ Papa Was A Rolling Stone
~ Jumpin' Jack Flash
15. Bad Medicine
~ Shout

Encore 1:
16. Bed Of Roses
17. Hey God

Encore 2:
18. The Boys Are Back In Town
19. Wanted Dead Or Alive
20. Never Say Goodbye

Boring? Two totally different sets, with songs they haven't played in ages.

4. Always
5. Blaze Of Glory
6. Lay Your Hands On Me
1. Rockin' All Over The World
2. Hey God
6. With A Little Help From My Friends *
8. I'll Sleep When I'm Dead - Papa Was A Rolling Stone

Boring set? You must be out of your mind. Boring is OWN tour sets, or Bounce tour sets. Any set with 10 songs and that much variation is never boring. And the best part was that there were no crappy songs of Crush or Bounce.
