We went to the Chicago show last night...

I was quite disappointed in the HAVE A NICE DAY t-shirt selection. First of all, I would of liked to have a simple black t-shirt with the smiley smirk with "HAND" on it but they didn't have one.

There was a white shirt with a red band around the neck and red band around the sleeves (like from the 70's - reminded me of a koolaid shirt!) and the smirk was on the back. I can't remember what was on the front but it was not worth $35 or $40!!! The other tour shirts weren't worth it either. And, even the kids sized shirts were $35! Crazy! My suggestion - make your own shirt or try to get one from ebay. The Backstage fan club has some cool shirts but only members can buy them and I cannot afford a membership right now. :(

All I ended up buying at the show was a black mug with the smirk on it for $10, a patch with the smirk on it for $5, a guitar pick with the smirk on it for $5 and a button with the smirk on it for $10 (it has lighted eyes that flash). And, I bought a necklace of the smirk (on a black rope) for $15. I spend $45. Yikes. Everything was soooo expensive! (not to mention the ridiculous ticket prices!). Don't they know most Bon Jovi fans are older and have a family to support?! And, for the younger fans - where will they get this kind of money?

They had a shot glass with the smirk on it but it was $10. And, a CD case with the smirk on it for $30. Oh, and they did have a pair of white sweatpants available for $75 but no smirk on it! And, sweatshirts I think were around $60 - can't remember what they looked like. Now that is ridiculous!

So, I advise you to bring alot of money if you're going to their show!

Sorry I vented a little. I'm just so disappointed.

That sucks about the merchandise. Tell us a little bit about the show itself if you please.

I was a few concerts of other bands on this summer, and they used the same prices :(

It's true the merch was expensive and it wasn't all that great this time around. I bought a smirk hat for $30. I questioned my sanity while I handed over the cash, but I was caught up in the moment. What can I say?

The show itself was pretty damn good! I was nervous about the setlist after seeing the one from Wednesday night. They changed it up a bit which was good. I wasn't thrilled with the acoustic thing. A lot of people used that time to hit the bathroom and get a drink. Myself included. I would have been happier to see them do some different songs this tour. After all they do have 22 years worth of material they could do. But it was good. I had a great time. Danced around like a fool and drank too much. But hey that's what concerts are for. A sidenote, while I'm not a big fan of TLFR, IBTFY was pretty damn cool. That song brings me back.

Worst part of the whole show? Getting out of the damn UC parking lot!!!!!Just like at the hockey games. They need to get someone to direct traffic after these things! 40 minutes to get out onto Damen?! Crazy!!

The show sounded great. Our seats were awful though - on the side of the stage all the way on top. We couldn't see much at all. And, our view of the (not so big) screen that was on our side was a bit obstructed by by the stage. I will never go to a show unless I'm on the main floor - close to the stage, but this was all we can get for $50...we could not afford $95 for main floor and they were sold out fast anyway.

I was disappointed that they did not play "Complicated" from the new CD - it's a great song.

They had 4 slow songs in a row in the middle of the set and you can tell people were getting tired of hearing them as a lot of people (where we were) sat down during the 2nd and 3rd slow song! I thought it was strange that they would do that. They played Always, IBTFY, LYHOM, and BOG (acoustic).
I will say, that I really loved the acoustic IBTFY though.

And, very true about the parking - it took forever to get out of the lot! Nobody directing traffic at all. It was pretty bad.

So, I cannot say we had the best time unfortunately.

And, I know tour merchandise for alot of shows have gone up - not just for Bon Jovi but also for Def Leppard too as we saw them a few times this summer. I just wish they'd all stop raising those prices.

So I take it side seats are bad ?

At the Chicago shows, there was actually a really cool black t-shirt which I ended up buying which said "Have A Nice Day Chicago" on the front with this very retro-styled logo, and had the two Chicago dates on the back with "SOLD OUT" stamped over them.

Most of the Jovi shows I've seen, usually just have shirts that have the bands picture on them and such...and being a guy, I've always thought that wearing those would probably look kind of cheesy. I think the merchandise for this tour is good. Painfully overpriced...but good, nonetheless.
