Did Richie rip off Joe Perry?

Been listening to lots of Aerosmith lately and although I never thought Richie sounds anything similar to Joe Perry, I noticed that the NEXT 100 YEARS solo and the final solo in AMAZING by Aerosmith are very 'close'.

Did anyone else notice this? Do you think it's just a coincidence :)

I don't think they sound similar...

Both guitarists have a unique sound and "touché", You can tell the difference.

I'm not familiar enough with Amazing to comment

But, some BJ tracks do tend to sound quite Aerosmith-y. Like I Want You sounds like Angel and Heart's Breakin' Even a bit like Cryin'. But I'm sure you knew that anyway :)

Yeah I suppose Bon Jovi an Aerosmith have always been related to the same kinda genre. You can tell them apart though at least.

It's quite well documented that Bon Jovi were influenced by Aerosmith so you're always going to get similarities. It's the way music works.

As long there is no complete ripp offs, being influenced by Aerosmith can only be a good thing and its not as if Richie looks at the exact notes Joe used and built a solo around them.

There are a couple of Bon Jovi songs that sound to me a lot like Aerosmith. One is the Crush demo, Ain't No Cure For Love, and one the boxset track, Flesh and Bone.

their styles of play are both vastly different. listen to joe perry in a live setting and you can mark him out immediately; his improvisation is weird. it's almost stop-start with very little flow.

Guys, if you read the post and not only the title you would have seen that I clearly state that :

So, just tale a listen to both solos and answer afterwards, PLEASE!

Thank you!

I don't really like Joe Perrys playing that much. It seems he doesn't have an idea for his solo, he just goes for it. Sometimes he gets it right, but mostly he's just fumbling around. He's a great rhythm player and writes killer riffs though.
