Need some advice (from band members especially)!

My university is doing a hurricane benefit talent show thing and they've asked me to sing at it for about 4 songs or so because I won a ridiculous talent show there one year (dressed in leather pants with a bandana and sang Bed of Roses and Runaway...oh man, what a night that was) and I was going to do all Bon Jovi cause it would be funny, as everyone else is going to sing Jack Johnson crappy hippie college music or hip-hop garbage.

I was thinking Runaway, It's My Life, Bed of Roses (or Always) (it's at a nice rented hall with room to dance), and Wanted. I can sing all of these well on their own, but I am not Jon Bonjovi, nor am I in a band. So, I am not sure if I can maintain a solid voice for all those songs for half an hour and run around and make an ass of myself.

What songs would you suggest I sing that would really get the audience going (sorry, living on a prayer is just too damn high and I'd end up puking my lungs into the audience...) and get them to have a good time and toss some money? Also, what order would you do it in? The girl organizing it says I can have as much time as I want, but like I said, 4 songs or so is good for me, and it's about what everyone else is doing. I was also thinking about throwing something in the middle like an oldie that everyone likes so I can get my vocals back. (Yes, I am a wuss, I know)

Any advice would be much appreciated. What would everyone get into?

Both Bed Of Roses and Always have higher notes and they're harder to sing.

I'd lose the ballads and go for the rock songs, the ones people know. It's My Life is good as is Runaway, probaby YGLABN and Prayer, maybe Bad Medicine. If you want a slow song, pick Always or Never Say Goodbye, Bed Of Roses really wasn't a hit.

Wanted would be pretty good. If you want to do a slow song, like Ice said Always would be a good choice, or In These Arms (although that may be a bit hard to sing...)

It's My Life
Bad Name
Wanted
Someday I'd Be Saturday Night

Everyone will know IML as its quite recent, and pretty much everyone has or has either heard Crossroad so you'd be on a winner with that set I think.

I'd have to say that, if you aren't going to attempt Prayer, I wouldn't go for a purely Jovi set cos you're gonna have people expecting it and/or cheering for it.

I'd pick 'It's My Life' and then go for some other big rock anthems by different bands - Bryan Adams 'Summer Of '69' would work well I reckon.......

just a thought.

just a thought but i would play acoustic i would play

wanted dead or alive
bad company- shootin star ( just get the chords and improvise )
dont go away mad - motley crue
soul asylum- runaway train
ill be there for you

that would go down well i played those in my college for battle of the bands on my own with my acoustic an got 2nd, in my opinion everyne will like these songs or most of them and if your voice is as good as you say it is you should be fine

Thanks for the suggestions guys, The show went tremendously! The mic fell out twice, but it was ok cause it was during the guitar solos. The latch was broken on it so I had to hold it funky. That was ok for everyone else who sang their whiny college music (which wasn't...all..bad...) cause they just sat it in the cradle, but God I wish I would have just had a cordless! Anyway, setlist was Runaway, Bad Name, Bed of Roses, and Livin' On a Prayer (took it down a step heh heh, nobody knew).

It was a lot of fun! people had lighters going during BOR and sang along to the upbeat tunes. I had to follow an interperative dance to My Immortal...that was....bizarre. Haha, college...

thanks again!
