You need iTunes. I have that, perhaps you can send me your iPod since without it it's useless :p

You can use more than one iPod on the same computer. We have 3 running on my family computer

Your computer may not have capacity to install xp, if it is that old. Happened to me - had to get a new computer.

Well, it's also a matter of choice. There's more operating systems than Windows XP and DOS, in case you didn't know...
