Jessica Simpson, Nick Lachey part ways

Los Angeles, November 24: After months of rumours, denials and salacious magazine covers, Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey are officially kaput.

The couple jointly announced their separation yesterday, confirmed their publicists Meredith O'Sullivan and Rob Shooter.

"After three years of marriage and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways," Simpson and Lachey said in an official statement.

"This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other. We hope that you respect our privacy during this difficult time."

Well, they also went on national TV, shoving their private day to day lives down peoples throats - of course people will take note if a split is announced.

*rolls eyes*

I'm not very up to date with who married for the tenth time and who divorced their dog. I think that a person's life is worth respecting when and if they respect it themselves. If as Spunky said they were airing their life in the good times for the money then they can't blame people for wanting to know more.

However, I hate it when someone tries hard to keep their life to themselves and yet the media follow them everywhere. Now *that* is unfair.

Anyone who wants it can now have their 15 minutes of fame, but I think that what Jim was saying is more to do with how pathetic it is of the people who do follow the celebrity lifestyles, the people who buy Heat and OK! and such magazines.

I expected that after the death of Princess Diana there would have been some sort of laws enforced to stop paparazzi following people like that, but it seems there wasn't. I really don't know how there isn't a law against having your photo published without your consent in a magazine or tabloid newspaper, does anyone know the laws regarding this?
