Bo Bice's new album

Ladies and Gentlemen, do I have a scoop for you. You know how Richie co-wrote with Bo Bice for his new album.

One of the songs is....

...Nothing. I mean the song "Nothing" that didn't make HAND. I didn't know where to post this, new releases are here. I am seriously in shock.

(and don't forget I'm the one that cracked this wide open ;))

Captain_jovi 11-30-2005 07:25 AM

This belongs in both forums. I am in shock. Total shock.

RyanBounce04 11-30-2005 07:26 AM

WTF!!! Well, that officially rules all chances of it being a B-Side for future singles. Oh well, I loved Vehicle when it was released awhile back so I'm sure Richie's influence on the new version of Nothing will be good!

That doesn't make it official as such surely? As far as I'm aware BJ could still release their demo version?

Stut 11-30-2005 01:27 PM

Official my ass. I havenīt seen anything. The title of Bo Bice-song is apparently Nothing Without You, written by Jon, Richie & John Shanks. Still, I donīt see why they couldnīt release it in the future. Not that I lose any sleep because of it.

Captain Walrus 11-30-2005 02:11 PM

You're very easily shocked

Captain_jovi 11-30-2005 02:56 PM

Maybe Ryan and I are alone in this one. Would would think if it's now Bo's song, they won't release it themselves much like they did for "Only takes one to say goodbye".

Stut, I'll send you what I have of it, it's pretty much the same damn freaking song.

DevilsSon 11-30-2005 03:27 PM

What? I am thrilled, shocked...OH NO!

How would I live, why would I try? now that Nothing isn't going to be a b-side?
I could learn to live without it but that's a lie...

Becky 11-30-2005 03:59 PM

The Bon Jovi song is Nothing.

The Bo Bice song is Nothing Without You written by Jon, Richie, and John Shanks.

What makes you assume that one word similarity means the same song? Mystery Train and She's a Mystery are not the same songs, but have one key word in common in the titles and were written for the same CD.

bonweissy 11-30-2005 05:12 PM

where is this song?

Where can i find the song nothing?

tweety_b 11-30-2005 06:28 PM

try with eMule

Jolo 11-30-2005 07:18 PM

If Nothing were the same song that Bo Bice will put in his new album, the fact that we will never see Nothing as a B-Side is not true.

The exchange of B-Sides or unreleased songs between artists or groups is very common. I remember an officialy releaseed B-Side song of Michael Jackson that was put in a Nick Carter solo album in 2002, both even released the same year. The song was written by Jackson, but Carter and even now the Backstreet Boys sang it on concerts on their current tour.

What song is it?

Becky, this isn't me shooting off my mouth assuming things. This was me after hearing 2 minute of Bo's song. I ain't no fool ;)

I shouldn't have said they won't release it. Other artists too, yah, but to me, I don't think Bon Jovi would. Maybe I'll be wrong.

While I'm sure your post will get deleted, this is the EXACT clip I have. It's from promosquad.com. It's a service that lets you vote for upcoming songs and whatever. I read some article about Jon and richie writing that song on Bo's album, I went to look up the lyrics and stumbled upon the clip.

Honestly, people. I wasn't THAT shocked. If you don't care, to be frank, get the hell out of the thread. If it doesn't interest you, have a nice day, ya know?

Captain Walrus 12-01-2005 01:57 AM

Yup, same song with a slight lyric change

I bet people will love it, and it'll go number 1 or something

ugly_queen_from_mars 12-01-2005 02:03 AM

i'd love this song as a bon jovi b side cause it's definitely one of my favourites. :(

Captain_jovi 12-01-2005 02:03 AM

On the few Bo fan boards I visited, people haven't been digging it much. Saying that it sounds like an 80's hair ballad or something but that's only cuz of the association with the Jovi boys, I assume.

EDIT: "Nothing Without You sounds like it was written by Desmond Child. It just has that familiar ring to it" Is something I read on a fan board. Funny stuff.

Alphavictim 12-01-2005 02:04 AM

And this slight lyric change will probably result in Mr Bice getting his name as the first songwriter in the booklet. Hehe. Sounds definitely pop, but what's shocking is that the guitar work in the chorus actually shows more details than the standard BJ song in 2005 does.

And by the way, could anyone point me out where to get the full version of BJ's Nothing? It'd be very appreciated.

ugly_queen_from_mars 12-01-2005 02:06 AM

bon jovi's version is much better. too bad they gave this song.

tweety_b 12-01-2005 02:11 AM

I'm not shocked as I really don't mind whether the song is going to be a b-side or not. I just think Nothing is a wonderful song, it's such a waste they "sold" it to someone else :(

Damn right. Sounds much better with Jon singing it, and the end of the chorus is way more effective just as "all that's ever left is nothing."

But then maybe we're a little biased :D

Marco@BonJovi.nl 12-01-2005 04:16 AM

Bo's a very lucky guy.........................

SamboraQueen21 12-01-2005 07:20 AM

well i was a big american idol fan and i liked bo alot he sounds good on this song but i wish that bj had kept it and put it on their album it is wierd to hear another artist do one of their songs.. still maybe it will be a big hit for bo .. who knows... thanks for the link definitely was interesting to hear it

Mr Bluesman 12-01-2005 01:33 PM

I sounds exactly the same as Jovi's version... but with some rubbish vocals.

Nah...only Jon Bon Jovi does that

Alphavictim 12-02-2005 12:45 AM

Actually, that's pretty "standard" in the business.

Skid Row, Guns N' Roses, AC/ DC, Metallica...they never did that. Whoever is the main writer gets th first credit.

And songs like Livn On A Prayer...maybe Jon and Richie have some input but it's clear that Desmond wrote it and sold it to them.

And Van Halen, Poison, Madonna, Spice Girls, etc. Def Leppard used to put all the writers in alphabetical order. It's not only Jon that puts his name first.

How do you know this? I have never heard anything like this before...

Alphavictim 12-02-2005 05:37 PM

Well, it's definitely possible, seeing that Desmond also had written the chorus melody for Bad Name before they even met. Also compare the intro-riff from Rosie and "Hide Your Heart" by Kiss...

AC/DC I agree on, but GnR had co-writers, and still the band got the main writing credit. Not to mention Metallica having their producer co-writing the whole St Anger record, always only getting his name in as number 4. Also, how do you know who really had the most input? It's often been stated that Malcom Young wrote the Back In Black riff, and also all the lyrics since Razor's Edge, yet the writing order is always "Angus/Malcolm". Also see the Rolling Stones - Angie was written by Richards to large degrees, and Brown Sugar was written by Jagger ALONE, yet they all got "Jagger / Richards".

Javier 12-03-2005 04:45 AM

Bon Jovi's version is better.

and I'm not biased.

sarafo 12-03-2005 11:48 AM

=\ Bon Jovi's version was just so much better!! I really liked Bo when he was on Idol, but...it sounds so bad with his vocals. And yeah, the version is exactly the same as the BJ one. It'd better not be a single, it would kill my ears if i heard it on the radio!

Itīs not exactly same. There are different lyrics here and there.

eheaps 12-17-2005 02:23 AM

Bo should open for Bon Jovi on tour...it would get him some good popularity, and Richie could play on guitar, and they could sing "Nothing" or "Nothing without You" ;)

While that would be neat, they'd only do that to capitalize on the fact that they both did the song "Nothing". And we're not even supposed to have the bands version of it, heh.

Alphavictim 12-17-2005 04:41 AM

Some information...

http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p...3:5ykvi7cabb89
Notice the lack of writing credit for Bo Bice. I wonder who wrote the new lyrics then.

http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p...3:ex0xlfke0c9r
Richie & John Shanks wrote this one

Also, song titles like "It's My Life", "The Real Thing" and "Lie... It's Alright" sound somewhat familiar ;)

There are no real "new" lyrics. Just minor minor changes. But I digress. Hmm...none of those song titles sound familiar. Just It's my life, obviously.
