Toronto!

So I'm going to be off on a trip to Canada soon, and..well..since I'm pretty much clueless, has anyone got any suggestions for what to do there? I'll be based in Toronto, but..anything a few hours from it is all good :)

Appreciate any help I can get! :D

I live just outside of Toronto so if you have any questions, I'll try my best to answer them.

The city is alive with activities all winter long – from skating to skiing to countless holiday festivities. And though winters can be snowy and cold, the weather is usually less severe than what U.S. residents along the southern shore of Lake Ontario are used to. You'll need to pack a warm coat, hat, scarf, gloves and lined boots.

As for things to do, you must visit the CN Tower. It's the tallest freestanding structure in the world. You should also check out the Eaton's Centre, which is apparently the top tourist destination in the city. Casa Loma is also a nice play to visit. It is the former estate of Canadian financier, Sir Henry Pellatt. Edwardian Castle complete with decorated suites, towers, 800-foot tunnel and stables.

The Royal Ontario Musuem (ROM) is another must see. Opening in December 2005, explore their impressive new galleries featuring the art and archaeology of China, Japan, Korea and Canada’s First Peoples--and enjoy two breath-taking special exhibitions: Deco Lalique and Korea Around 1900: The Paintings of Gisan.

If you get a chance, check out Niagara Falls as well. The city is only 2 hours or so outside of Toronto.

Again, if you have any other questions, just let me know and I'll try to help.

Mr Greenjeans restaurant in the Eaton centre, excellent restaurant! If the lake isn't frozen, a harbour tour is well worth doing. I'll never forget Captain Genevieve
:Hearts smiley:

Day trips to Niagra are very possible too. We took a coach tour, and apart from the early start, it was a great day! Maid of the Mist boat ride, much better than going behind them.

I also has the best sweet and sour pork in chinatown, but i'd be hard pushed to remember the name of the restaurant.

Avoid the Bond Place Hotel, very dusty.

It's a great city, have fun!

Any Pickle Barrel restaurant for the lunch special fajitas.
Any big black truck for watching a movie being made.
Global Village youth hostel for the cheapest beer.
Zanzibar on Yonge Street for entertainment.
Parkdale at night for a leisurely stroll.
Panorama restaurant for the night view.
Niagara for a day trip away from the city and lots of ice.
Church Street for 'very friendly' bars.
Any of the chinatowns for bird flu.

I think the question you need to ask yourself is why haven't you moved to Japan?

Good question. Is it a nice country?
