Why does Richie yell his name during Wanted?
 

Obviously others have noticed this. I always like before a guitar solo whe Jon says Richie's name. But, why in the hell does Richie scream out his own name before the solo to Wanted?

Anyone remember Moscow in 1989? Was it Jon or Richie who yelled out, what I swear was Richie?

Man - Talk about mishearing things. DOH!

I have a friend I make fun of because he always misunderstands lyrics. A few examples:

Genesis "Invisible Touch" = Physical Attraction.
Drift Away = "Give me the beat boys", he thought was "give me the Beach Boys"
And my favorite, Glenn Frey's "You belong to the city", he thought was "You belong to the sea."

Guess I'm just as bad.

I've never noticed him shouting anything during Wanted before!

My classical mishearing would be "take my pants, we'll make it I swear". Oh well, it was 7:00 in the morning.

He shouts either let ride or ready, I'm not sure. He does it to let the other band members know that the guitar change is done and he is ready for the guitar solo.

Get onto this one. There's this Therapy? song called Trigger Inside and there's a certain lyric in the song that I thought went as follows:

"I read soft porn as a child, the blueprint for my erection lied, confidence I've been denied"

It actually reads "I was awkward as a child, the blueprint for my wretched life, confidence I've been denied"

Maybe that says something about my teenage mind at that time.

As for him shouting RICHIE! before the solo, that's funny man. It reminds me of TIMMY! off South Park. All these years and that's what you thought he said. There was a time I thought he said Let's Rock before the solo but at least that was close and over the years I realised I was wrong.

There used to be a website called "The ants are my friends". It was a site of all the usual misheard lyrics. Sadly it's not there anymore.
It was named after the Bob Dylan song, Blowin in the Wind which says "the answer my friends is blowing in the wind" :)
