Tough Way To Start The New Year

My grandfather died this morning. My mother called me at work so I was pretty embarrased to have to sit there in front of customers and have tears well up in my eyes. I have been preparing myself for it the past week or so but I really didn't think it would come this early. This has been especially tough because he's been so good to me my whole life. My fondest memory will be when him and I used to sit in front of the television at his old house in California and watch Home Alone 2. He loved that movie and he laughed so hard everytime he watched it. I'll miss him dearly and I'm aware of how to handle the situation, I just don't know if I can.

I'm sorry for your loss. When I've had some losses, I've taken time to write down memories to think of good times and found that helpful. If you need to vent, you know you've got a lot of people here who care.

sorry mate. my nan died bout 9 weeks ago and now my grandad had to go to a home and he is broken without her i know how terrible you feel.
i guess i feel lucky that i had a great relationship with my nan and grandad just like u have had. my grandad loves jungle book that always makes him laugh. u have to remember the good times and try to forget (as best u can ) the bad times.
i hope the year gets better for you mate im sure it will

I'm so sorry to hear that Ryan - it is a rotten way to start the New Year. In my case it was a Grandmother that was very special to me. She died when I was 19 and to this day, certain times of the year I think about her and miss her but now it's a warm feeling. My Dad died when I was 17 and every time I go to a baseball game I think of him - he was a baseball fanatic. The older you get, it's nice to keep the good memories - after a while the hurt and the grief mellows and the good memories stay.

Kathleen
