I saw Alice Cooper on Wednesday at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. One of the most famous festivals in the world!

I was at the 1st row and the bassist Chuck Garric recognized me while playin on stage, he's so adorable!

My Panasonic DMC-TZ7 arrives tomorrow, until then I've been making do with my TZ1 for the last few years.

Took a couple of shots while taking Lucas out for a ride on his trike...

Want to buy a camera for myself. Should have more than the usual 3x opt. zoom because I'm going to alot of gigs. Any suggestions? Thanx for the help :-)

If it's point and click that you want, my hours spent reading reviews all over the internet told me that the Panasonic DMC-TZ7 is the best, so much so that I bought one! It has a 12x zoom and lots of options, modes and the new 'intelligent auto' mode which chooses the right mode for your setting. It's the latest in a range which started with the TZ1 which I had before and used to take great shots at gigs both indoors and out.

That's my take, there are far better qualified phtography bods on here who I am sure will chip in when they see this.

Here's a few shots I took today with my newly arrived TZ7...

The problem with the ultra-zooms is that you loose so much quality. Reminds me of a well-known quote of photographer Capa: "If your pictures aren't good enough, you're not close enough". And it's so true. But I can see how at gigs getting close is not always an option.

I've had one of the predecessors of the Panasonic DMC-TZ7 as my simple point & shoot camera for a while, but I would never think of printing any of the photographs as the quality pretty much sucks. It's usually ok for web and snapshots, but even then only a handful of the images I find good enough. The Panasonic has no real options for manual shooting and by far the largest downside I think of the Panasonic DMC-TZ* is that it produces compressed images only.

But then I examine all my DSLR photographs pixel by pixel enlarged at 300%, so maybe I'm not exactly fair to the Panasonics here ;). There are quite some people out there that are very happy with the TZ* range after all. But I would probably opt in for a Canon PowerShot G11, if I would need a point & shoot camera that is.

I've not had problems with printing out photos, but then my standards are world's apart from yours Sara, mine are far lower :) I had a wonder around your website and the photos you have taken are truly inspiring - if one day, with a better camera!, I can take a photo a just 1/0th as good as yours then I'll be a happy man.
