Thank God no spider this time. The other one was scary! ;)

Thomas Anderson 09-09-2006 08:22 PM

:p Funny though, the spider I saw yesterday seems to live on that same web, I'm sure I have photos of it from months ago in the same place :? lol

Must be a lazy spider :p

Check this out:

My grandad took this in Limassol, Cyprus, in 1987

Notice anything? :p I didn't even notice at the time, it was sometime last year I was looking at some old slides and photographing them to transfer to pc, and I spotted the similarity, you can see the same hotel on the right, and some things in the water on the left, must have been taken just a few metres apart, just the 17 year difference, meaning the trees got somewhat bigger.

Really nice!! And the place hasn't really changed a lot...

Well that whole area is apparently re-claimed land, the whole promenade. MY grandad was there in the 50's in the army and said the road was right next to the sea, but they added all that on, and in the past few years especially they have made it much nicer, there are sculptures, fountains, little park areas with flowers and a play area for kids, it's quite nice. I like the way it's a single long, unbroken strip you can walk along, and all the little added features lead off it to the side, so you have the sea at one side with all the ships coming in and out of the harbour, then all the little created areas to the other side. Then of course you cross the road (which often takes ages) to go to all the old town shops which haven't changed in years.

Here are some of my photos from last year

Some sort of sculpture, should really have photo'd it from the other side, where there was probably a plaque with a description

The medieval castle, now a museum, supposedly where King Richard I (aka Richard the Lionheart) married Princess Berengaria, and then it was a prison

A little bit of thin cloud tonight, makes for nice effect, though works better if they're low and fast
