I asked this at bonjovi.com but I don't know whether it'll get answered. So--I'm putting it to you all to see what you think.


Is there speculation that the country music market exposure has been a source of older fans "coming home" so to speak? It is my perception that many Bon Jovi fans from "years ago" would have started tuning in to country stations when "rap" seemed to take over the airwaves. The exposure could have allowed fans to "rediscover" Bon Jovi and make them aware that hey--things are still going strong!

I don't know.

I think it certainly hasn't hurt the band to have the exposure on the country market. Country music today is alot closer to mainstrem pop/rock than it is to traditional country,I think the crossover is a good thing for the band here in the US. As for fans, yeah I think some of the "older" fans that migrated to country when kiddy pop and rap took over mainstream rock/pop are rediscovering BJ, but I also think that regular country fans who were never into rock/pop have discovered that it isn't all bad. This was agood move for the band here.

Despite the fact that I personally do not like Jennifer Nettles voice, I think the band's decision to dabble in the country market may prove to be a wise business decision-particularly in reference to their performance on the CMA's and the upcoming Daytona 500. For example, my father has always known who they were because I am such a big fan, but he wouldn't have been able to tell anyone a Bon Jovi song. However, he loves country and watches the country music televesion station a lot and saw their performance on the CMA's and enjoyed it. I'm not saying he's going to go buy a CD, but there may be many others that will.

I would fall into that category. Most pop music today seems so shallow and annoying to me that I would rather listen to country music because the songs make sense and are a lot closer to the rock and roll I grew up listening to than either pop or metal is today. I still listen to the hard rock/metal station and pop stations occassionally, but I find more songs that reach me personally through country now. I'm a button-hitter. I change the radio station constantly until I find something I like.

For the first time since I heard Everyday ONCE in 2002, I'm hearing a current Bon Jovi song on the radio. I haven't heard a song with this much regular airplay since It's My Life.

That's good to hear Becky. I know how hard pressed you are to hear Bon Jovi in your neck of the woods so it's good to know they are getting some airplay.
