God - I lived in Fresno once for 6 months in the early seventies. You have never seen small mindedness and bigotry until you have lived in Californis'a central valley. The heat will kill you also. Somehow I can't picture the band selling out in Fresno but there is a college there (which is why I was there for a short time - I transferred LOL)

Very interesting Kathleen. I never would have guessed that about Fresno. Yep, don't think that show was a sell out but pretty close from what I hear.

Having been born and raised in Jersey - the agribusiness industry that rules the central vally was culture shock to me. The early seventies were the time the grape pickers actually wanted to get paid a living wage and staged boycotts. The growers were in the habit of literally shooting anyone on their property that joined the boycotts. I have never drunk a glass of Gallo wine again. And I transferred to Berkeley - out of the central valley.

It just seems odd to me that the band would play Fresno but not San Francisco. Of all the places on the west coast I would imagine that San Francisco would have a music audience.

San Francisco doesn't really have any ideal indoor venues. Although the sound indoors usually isn't that great, I'm glad it was at sj arena cause' the weather sucked. I know Metallica and the Stones played at PacBell I believe, but shows at pac bell are rarity.
