Nothing (Without You)
Do you think "Nothing" wouldīve been the next "Always"??? Lot of people think it could, is a good song with good lyrics. Too bad didnīt make it.
|
Definetely not. It's an okay song but nothing stellar, IMO.
|
I think Dirty Little Secret would play better on the radio.
But Nothing is a really good tune. No doubt about that. |
It is the only song out of the three that didn't make HAND that I actually like. I don't think it is anywhere near the league Always is in though. It will be interesting to see if Bo Bice releases it as a single.
|
Nothing and Dirty Little Secret definitely should have made it on the record. Great songs. It's a bit more generic than Always, but then again, Always is among the best ballads of the band ever.
|
I would have put Nothing, DLS and Unbreakable on the record. I'd ship out Wildflower, Complicated and Last Cigarette.
Nothing and Unbreakable aren't outstanding but they are better that many of the album tracks, and I think DLS was actually good enough to make a good single and it puzzles me why it didn't at least make the album. Then again the last 3 albums have had good tracks missed off them. Crush was missing Nuerotica (perhaps Bon Jovi's rawest rock song ever) and Bounce was missing Standin', Alive, etc. There are quite a few good demos that were recroded for the last three albums but didn't make the cut. God knows why....? |
I agree with Rob - Nuerotica could have easily replaced Next 100 Years or Save The World.
I haven't heard Nothing (double negative, ha ha), but I think Dirty Little Secret could have replaced Wildflower. I think the album would have been that much better with that song - These Open Arms has a bland chorus, and Unbreakable is a demo, nothing more - lol, because it is pretty embarassing at some points. But I like it, just not for the album. Hopefully they'll release Nothing on a b-side or something, so I can hear it. Probably we'll just get IML live though. Ha ha |
Oh yeah, I absolutely agree that DLS could have been a single. I've been trying to come up with a logical reason of why they wouldn't even put it on the album or release it as a single.
The only logical reason I can come up with is that singing it live, the notes in the pre-chorus, "I wanna come inside" and "I wanna feel alive" would kill Jon vocally. I don't think he wants that burden. Otherwise, I guess even though we all know it's a hit single, perhaps the band just doesn't like the song. I mean, it's hard to believe, but it is possible. Oh, and since we all hate Wildflower, you know what that means - it'll probably be the next single. All About Lovin' You anyone? Lol |

Yeah, it has a good guitar solo, it's true, but the horns make it sound corny to me. It sounds like filler. I don't think she's a mystery is stellar or anything, but I don't mind the low-key vibe. Sort of peaceful, I think.
Save the world is pretty corny though. Not terrible, but could have been a demo |
don't know if i am allowed to ask this here or not....so delete away if i'm not
but where can i find recent demos, the only one i heard is these open arms, thanks in advance for any help and sorry for the post, if its not allowed chao |

Next 100 Years is among my favourites from Crush. There are a lot of obvious fillers on the record - I Got The Girl and Save The World come to my mind immediately. With HAND, they probably should have dropped either Last Cigarette or SOML, because those two choruses are really very similar - I personally prefer LC's verses and SOML's chorus, which is why I'm not two crazy about any of the songs. I don't care about Wildflower, but at least it's different.

Nothing is a good song,i really like it...BUT Always is Always....
Wildflower as next single???NO WAY!!!!To me they should show to the world Last man standing...THAT WOULD BE GREAT!!! |

"Story of My Life" or, even though it sounds like a WB Show's theme, I REALLY like and think that, "Welcome to Wherever You Are" would do well. But, I'm curious. Why do you think that LMS would be the next great single? I'm just not seeing it. I'm not saying any of this to be bitchy, I'm just not seeing it & if you can explain WHY, maybe it'll occur to me, is all. Thank you. |

Last Man Standing is about Bob Dylan.
|
definitely several bonus tracks should have been on common playlist - DLS, unbreakable
Nothink is great but donīt think it would have a chance to become such a hit as always :???: |

Last Man Standing it's a ROCK song, the tempo is so fast and the lyric is more than just amazing.People is complaining all the time that BJ are realising always the same kind of songs (It's my life,Everyday and Have a nice day)and that's a completely different kind of song and of message. It's about a generation of musicians that are slowly fading away...well,at these days,i think we can count REAL musician on the top of one hand.....It's against that new generations of "singers" that are everywhere and that suck! It's great,i mean....have you ever heard Jon talk about it???You probably would understand a lot of things.... |
So was Nothing (Without You) one of the bonus tracks for HAND?

Is it just an unreleased song then? I've never heard of it before.

It's interesting reading others views on the Crush tracks, it's an album I really enjoy listening to just now, even more so than when it was released. Personally, I love I Got The Girl but I know quite a few people who don't, and I think Next 100 Years and Mystery Train are great. I agree about She's A Mystery, I would drop that, but perhaps more controversially, I would consider dropping One Wild Night and Say It Isn't So - any backers? |
I haven't heard Nothing, just like I've never heard Neurotica (which I really want to). Were they bonus tracks in different countries?
|
Neurotica is on the Japanese Crush-CD. Nothing is not published, at least not by BJ. It is published by Bo Bice though.

LMS IS a fast song tempo-wise compared to the majority of stuff on the last two records. It's a ROCK song through and through and without the "gonna live my life" lyrics that we have all grown tired of. I believe the original poster was comparng LMS aganist Jovi's recent works, not to a 70's song by Aerosmith or an 80's song by a hard rock band called Metallica. |
