The only logical explanation is that Jon can't hit the notes, as it's one of the best songs on the album.
I'm surprised it didn't get left off HAND if that is the reason, as that's what most of the songs on the box set were.

I don't know if I buy that. A lot of the songs are in pretty high keys but at the times they were recorded, Jons voice could handle them. I think the big reason most got left off the records was because they either sounded like a past Jovi song, a past song in general or the lyrics sucked. Heh. Who knows..

Anyway, its a great song and could be played live. All it needs is a whole lot of backing vocals just like all the other songs jon finds hard like LOAP, HAND etc.

My theory is that they are saving I Am for Europe. There is no reason Jon couldn't sing this song. It seems to me if he can sing Welcome with no problem, he can handle I Am.

if Jon can sing "In these Arms", I think they could definately create an arrangement that is suitable to his vocal range by tuning down a half or full step! I think they are saving this one for the summer.

I'm inclined to agre with Deb on this one, I don't think Jon records songs now that his voice can't handle. Actually he never really did, when he recorded Prayer he could hit the high notes on it.
As for the box set I really think that those songs got left off records at the time because A) they didn't fit in with the theme of the album being recorded, B) Jon and the band didn't think they were good enough to make the cut at the time, or C) Jon just flat out didn't like the song and didn't want to do it.

I don't know why it hasn't been played live but yet. Maybe it will be played in Europe, maybe not. Maybe it will be played in the states on the summer leg but again, maybe not. Only Jon knows why they haven't played it. We can only speculate. I am speculating it is NOT because his voice cannot handle it. It's not that high of a song. It's certainly not in the vein of Always that's for sure. I truly think Jon would have no problem singing it live. Maybe they are just waiting to surprise us at a show... let's hope that is it.

It's possible it's just one of those songs that won't get played. There's always (mostly) been a song or two that just doesn't get played due to to many new songs being played.
