*counting days and forgetting to check mailbox in case it was delivered just a wee bit early*

Alexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx!! I am assuming it kicks ass and you are still in bed with PJ listening non-stop. Sigh....

Alex 04-30-2006 09:36 AM

:( No, I haven't had the time nor the oppurtunity to pick it up :(

UKjovi 04-30-2006 11:50 AM

i've heard 1 song so far and it was ok

Mr Bluesman 04-30-2006 03:04 PM

I shall be going into town to buy it tomorrow, along with Snow Patrol's new album. I'll be seeing if I can get hold of Wolfmother, too. What to listen to first, hmm?

Alex 04-30-2006 03:27 PM

Ah, good to see you haven't picked it up yet either, Will. Now I feel less bad :)

Captain Walrus 04-30-2006 03:36 PM

It's not out til tomorrow! And I probably won't be able to get it til later in the week :(

New CDs I wanna pick up in May: Pearl Jam, RHCP, Wolfmother, Angels & Airwaves, AFI, and is the new Def Leppard one released in May as well? Damn, its gonna be an expensive month

*gasp* that question was for effect only, right? You aren't really wondering this yourself???? *hyperventilates*

*and goes to check the mailbox = damn they don't deliver on Sundays :(*

SamboraQueen21 04-30-2006 10:22 PM

What's with the cover? I saw it in the Best Buy ad and it looks like a picture of an avacado is on the cover. WTF does that mean?

Alex 05-01-2006 12:21 AM

It *is* an avocado. I've read it's referring to the Avocado declaration (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avocado_Declaration). Don't know how much of that is true, though.

A link to an empty page .... ? :S

SamboraQueen21 05-01-2006 04:10 AM

Yup still confused here. What exactly is the Avacado Declaration? Do tell please....

http://petra-k.cagreens.org/longbeach/avocado.htm

It's a political movement for a multiple party system.

I'd hoped that the meaning was a bit 'deeper' but it has yet to be confirmed that this is indeed the connection...

Calm down, in an hours time I should have that avocardo in my hands. But I am going to see Snow Patrol tomorrow, so I really do need to get listening to that one. Sorry, sorry, sorry. [don't eat me]

Mr Bluesman 05-01-2006 03:19 PM

Yay, yay. Only on track (World Wide Suicide), so I cannot really comment yet. However, I can say that Life Wasted is a great opening track.

The art work - don't be fooled by the simplistic front cover. The concept on the inside is... well, shocking. Taking the CD out and seeing the image that it was covering causes a little gasp, it has to be said. I don't want to ruin anything yet, so go out and get it for yourselves.

Alex 05-01-2006 07:32 PM

I'm in love with Inside Job, what a quality song. This has got to be one of the great PJ songs! It's like Release mixed with Indifference, I dunno.

Snow Patrol's Eyes Open is very good. A little too downbeat, though. It's not as 'rock n' roll' as anything previous. Hands Open is a great rock song, the rest are rather depressing, to say the least. I think I need to sit down with it and get a proper listen.

I didn't get Wolfmother, but I did see it for £7.99 :) bargain. I'll get that later this week.

I'll have to check it out .. the more downbeat the better. haha.

Captain Walrus 05-04-2006 01:20 PM

Still haven't got the damn thing! >:( Went to Virgin to go and pick it up so I could use my Addict card, and they didn't have it in stock! Bastards. So I'm hoping to get it soon, maybe tomorrow

I don't have it yet either (am mad) - I pre-ordered, but haven't received it yet!! (apparently I made the mistake of ordering some merchandise as well which delayed delivery - crap). I'll stop on the way home and buy a copy cause I am tired of waiting (supposedly the artwork is different between the 10c copy and the regular copy, we shall see).

Do have the digital download, of course, but to me it's just not the same....

This is such a great album though, I know it will take me a looong time to get through it and digest it all - good to see that there are still bands out there that have been around forever and still have the guts to put out what they want and to speak up when everybody else has fallen silent!!

Alex: love that signature :D that song gives me goosebumps.

Don't know, but don't you Euros always get albums before us in the States?

Whaaaat? That sucks! Can't they do a postdelivery on the merchandise or what? :S

Agreed. And it's nice to know they still rock. It was totally what I expected and more!

Me too. So does 'Gone'.

Mr Bluesman 05-05-2006 09:06 PM

Ok, I've managed to get a good feel for this album. I absolutly love it. The band have done themselves proud with this release. Way better than Riot Act, I'd say it was better than Binaural as well. Album highlights, for me, include Life Wasted, Marker in the Sand, Gone, Come Back and Inside Job. It's all superb music, heartfelt with top Vedder (and McCready) lyrics. A very solid album that I feel I can listen to all of the way through without the need to skip tracks.

Roll on Leeds Festival!

Alex 05-05-2006 09:55 PM

Will, I totally agree with you when it comes to this album - I would even pick your highlights as mine.

spunkywho 05-05-2006 11:39 PM

http://www.cbs.com/latenight/latesho..._on_letterman/ check it out it is the SHIT!

I am just so blown away. For me this is one comes right after Ten - it's way up there.

I have yet to skip over a track and I don't think I ever will. An album you can listen from front to back and over again.

Tempted to get tickets for the second night they are playing here ... if it only wasn't out in the boonies and it required camping, sigh...

Oh and Mr. Bluesman, the artwork is indeed superb!!!

ponrauil 05-06-2006 07:35 PM

I've never been that much into Pearl Jam but this album is a great one from the first track to the last.
The booklet is indeed one of the most beautiful I've seen in a very long time.

LOL!!!!!!!!!

ponrauil 05-06-2006 08:40 PM

Thanks for that link... what else can I say. They rock.

I love their new material and feel like I lost some of my time not giving them more attention in the past...

Alex 05-06-2006 11:04 PM

The link does work, but I still can't see shit in there. :(

Ponrauil, I was a huge fan right after Ten came out and I'm still in love with Vs. as well. But I still lost track of them after No Code - I was sooo disappointed with it and I really thought that they weren't able to deliver some quality albums anymore. I'm glad that this album proofs me wrong. Dead wrong :)
