Stadium Arcadium
Seeing as how it leaked yesterday, I downloaded it.... Let me just say that... IT KICKS ASS!!! Well worth the wait, there is a ton of material. It took just under 2 hours to finish the thing and I'm extremely impressed. Again, the guitar work is fantastic. Wait till most of you guys hear it, it's rather impressive. 28 songs is a lot to take it.

So, is it better than that last piece of junk?
|
Looking forward to hearing it when its out

I like Dani California, even if it is just a recycled Californication/By The Way track. I can't believe it's been 4 years since the last album.

I am certain if I admitted that I'd go to hell.... |
Well for the record, I thought By The Way was for the most part really good and creative
I've listened to the first disc of SA, and so far I'm distinctly underwhelmed ... |
I got it yesterday and on first listen i like it
|
I'm only 2 and a half songs into the second disc and I'm already enjoying it more than the first
|
wait till you hear track 11 i think it is. loved that one

I too am endlessly impressed. It is all it was promised to be and I was soooo worried that they were done for it.... When I heard all the love shit and how it influenced their album, I got REALLY scared, but man - this album is out of this world. LOVE them. Unfortunately, I am, once again, out of town when they blow through.... *weep* two down, one to come (PJ and RHCP - AS still outstanding and I am afraid it will suck). |

You can buy the box almost anywhere I believe. Check Best Buy or if you have a Tower Records. Not sure if there is one in Seattle or not. There is so much good music that has came out recently, it's blowing my mind! Pearl Jam, Goo Goo Dolls, Godsmack, RHCP, Hoobastank, Angels & Airwaves. It's a lot to take in, but along with Angels & Airwaves, RHCP has the best album! Ryan |

Oh, Ryan honey, that sentence just makes no sense. There is no possible way you can put PJ and RHCP in the same sentence with any of the rest. Haven't listened to the new GGD album yet... |
Red Hot Chili Peppers
:):)
Just wanted to say I am loving the new song from RHCP, "Dani California". A great sound, great rhythm, a really good feel to the song. I have always like Anthony Kiedis songwriting style and attitude. I am now curious to hear the new album! :):) |

OK, so upon second full listen to the first disc, I feel I didn't give it enough credit or listen to it properly the first time round. It's a lot better than I remember it, John especially showing his genius
But, despite the fact that individually the songs are mostly all good, I still have a couple of problems with it as an album ... for a start, it tends to drag a bit in places, and secondly, it almost seems like they set about to recreate their own sound through various eras .... there's not really a defining Stadium Arcadium sound that I've discovered so far, its just song that sound like they could be BSSM era, songs that sound like they could be Mother's Milk era, songs that could be Californication era and songs that could be By The Way era. And as such, the whole thing comes across as more of a compilation of b-sides from each of those albums ... very impressive b-sides, but it still lacks the cohesion of an album I'll keep you informed as to how this progresses ;) |
gotta love the chilis cant fault

I don't think I agree with this at all. To me there are two general RHCP eras: pre Californication and post Californication. I don't find Mothers Milk soo much different from Freaky Stiley for example. And both Californication and By The Way are very pop. Stadium Arcadium, on the other hand, has a lot of pop influences and is probably the most melodic record of all without going completely pop as with the two previous releases. If anything it brings the two eras together - going back to more funk, but retaining some of the melodic pop qualities. |
Naughty Chilis!
