Glasgow review and my views on the casual fans
 

2nd time in Glasgow for me and im glad to see it was miles better than the last time in 03 (although so far I am saying that about every show).

For the first time in a while I was in the stands, pretty decent seat on Hughs side although compared to where iv been stood recently it felt like miles away. It was actually good to see the whole stage set up and lights in full though and to watch the crowd on the floor. (it was also good to have a few beers before and during the show, even though some miserable cow was annoyed cos me and Yv spilt beer on her :d)

Very average setlist although you expect that with Glasgow now unfortunately. Compared to Dublin they get nothing and I dont know why becos it always sells out and the crowd are really enthusiastic. It felt quite shot too but all the songs were performed really well. They should def keep Wild in the streets int he set, it goes down a storm and is perfect for stadium gigs. No TLFR I dont need to say anymore on that http://drycounty.com/jovitalk/images/smilies/smile.gif They could have ended with a better song than Sat Night though, the crowd were well up for more I was certain they were gonna come back out for one more song. In these arms, id die for you, IBTFY and Prayer were again highlights. Heard complicated for the first time lets hope its the last too http://drycounty.com/jovitalk/images/smilies/smile.gif Sounds a little better live but much prefer Novacaine and Welcome which im still yet to hear.

Just a word on the whole discussion about rotating and playing the big hits, to be honest im not sure if they have much choice with it. Forexample last night Id say the biggest crowd pleasers were Prayer, Sleep, BTBMB, IML Bad name and Bad Medicine. Yet they didnt react at all to IWBL or Radio which were both great. Its easy to see why they tend to keep the majority of the crowd happy even though the diehards miss out. They do need to do something with IML though, (maybe a slow TLFR type intro??)) it gets slower everytime even though like I say it always goes down well.

So nearly halfway through the shows and its still looking good, its only now I realise what a poor tour Bounce was. I have to admit Glasgow is the weakest show iv seen so far but I expected that, poor old Scots I hope next time you lot get somekind of rariety. It wont stop me going back though :)

I was there in Hampden last night! The second BJ show I've been to and this one was GREAT!

I was in the Golden Circle section (well, the outer circle bit) and I had a great time. Frist time I've seen JBJ close up and I'm telling you he looks SO GOOD!!!! :lol:

I totally agree with you. So, that means those hits, especially the number 1's will ALWAYS be in the set list which is unfortunate for the diehards who could live without a few of them or at the very least see some of them rotated in and out. I love your suggestion for IML. I think that would be cool.

I said the same thing from the earlier gigs here in the US. All the usual suspects get a huge reception - all the new stuff practically nothing. I have to give the Continental show that they played I got the Girl a special mention. I really dislike that song yet the people around me went nuts when they figured out what it was - go figure.

Ha ha, Kathleen, I remember thinking it was odd that I Got The Girl got such a big reception as well. The only HAND song that gets a reaction as big as the hits is HAND.

HI I'm new to the Board so hope I do this right. I was at the Hampden gig and also the Dublin gig. While I totally agree with what you said about the Glasgow set list I think Jon's interaction with the Glasgow crowd was awesome - so much better then last time. He was really up for it. Really fed up that Glasgow did'nt get Dry County - was really looking forward to it. Still never mind 2 great gigs and roll on next time.

If other bands can do it, Bon Jovi can. I Want To Be Loved sounds crap anyway, and Radio would get a much better reception if the chorus would be in the right key.

Sleep gets a good reception, yet it wasn't a big hit. Crash, the one without the fancy stuff in his nick, gets a good reception while it wasn't a single at all. The same for Raise Your Hands. Dry County got a very good reception in Dusseldorf as well. And there's a difference between a crowd not cheering because they're bored, or a crowd not cheering because they're actually listening to a song. So it is possible, they'll just have to perform the **** out of them.

What songs American cheer to don't make sense. Americans cheer to anything as long as long as it was a big hit or it doesn't last longer than 3 minutes so they can take another pee.

I was at Glasgow on Saturday night and really enjoyed it. This was my first time at a scottish bon jovi gig as we have only just moved up here. I thought it was much better than old trafford on the bounce tour, but maybe that was because we were on the pitch this time instead of in seats right at the back (i was heavily pregnant on both the bounce and one wild night tours). I thought the crowd reception was great and i do agree went the wildest at the big hits, but when you get a band playing stadiums holding 50,000 people you are going to get some people who are there just for the night out and who only know the classics. The thing that annoyed me was we moved twice because of cackling women. I'm sorry but when i go to see my favourite band i want to listen to the music not to what you got up to the night before in town.

I'm glad the crowd were much more energetic and lively at this gig. When I went to Ibrox in 2003 the audience mainly stood there like a bunch of cardboard cutouts. Overall I think it was a good concert. I was quite surprised that there weren't any cover songs (other than a few mins of Shout) and although it ended rather abruptly in my opinion, it was still a good show :)
