Should Bon Jovi Haved Stopped Years Ago?
I say YES they should've made a great album in 98 and call it quits.
Motivation? Too lame for it now, later, till then: SPAM ME! (White widow rules!) |
NO!!. i have to admit i was a little apprehensive as to wether they can still create that BON JOVI experience, BUT that was before the MANCHESTER GIG, they rocked, there was no doubt about it. the age range of the audience was massive, my 9 year old son was blown away by the experience of 60'000 odd people all singing along together. there is no doubt in my mind whatsoever that they are still the greatest live band going. you say they lack motivation, you could see jon feeding of the audience, he was motivated allright. as for the records. i think HAND is a great album. better than BOUNCE or CRUSH

They're doing just fine. They have no reason to stop. If you don't like what they're doing now you're free to stop listening to them at any time.

I still like to listen to the pre-crush stuff... |

I like Hysteria by Def Leppard. I was disappointed with subsequent releases. I don't have to buy a CD just because Def Lep releases it, nor do I live to listen to it, nor do I have to go see them on tour. But I have no right to say they should have stopped with Hysteria. They should do whatever makes them happy. |

If someone has produced a record or two you have really made an emotional connection to, there is always the hope that they will reach those heights again. It usually takes 3 or 4 less than perfect releases for me to really give up hope! It was definitely worth sticking with Iron Maiden through the Blaze Bailey period. Hysteria is totally cool. Def Leppard's new album of covers blows. |

I don't think Bon Jovi should have quit 10 years ago. For one it seems they still enjoy what they are doing. Another is that I do like every albums since TD except TLFR. |
Well from a reputation stand point the fact that they are still making hit records and remain relevant is the reason they're seen above the likes of Poison and Def Leppard. From a money making stand point, Crush sold big and HAND is doing well, not to mention the tours. From a song quality standpoint, they've had some good songs since These Days so it's not like the drop is THAT huge in quality.
Oh yah, point is, no they shouldn't have stopped. |
If they'd stopped in '98 I never would have heard of them, so no they shouldn't have stopped.
Obviously, they still like what they're doing, and there are plenty of people who still like what they're doing and want them to KEEP doing it, so no they shouldn't have stopped. As long as they want to make music and as long as they have an audience they should keep going. (And I like Leppard's new album) |
I feel the boys are doing fine, okay some of the albums suck a bit and maybe a little more work was needed. But Milton Keynes and Southampton for me were fabulous. The best live performance of any group or soloist (is that a word) that I know of.
But we have to remeber that competition for audiences is hugh, compared to what it used to be. We now have many more Radio stations with DAB (UK only), more MTV like channels and of coarse we have the dear old internet. Albums sales are down generally and you only have to sell what seems like a handful of singles to make it to the number 1 spot. Guys keep on Rocking. |
