So who actually buys singles...?

I am a massive fan of this band, and well many many others, but VERY rarely feel the need to buy singles so it made me think how irrelevant the singles chart can be as an indicator of a bands success when someone as dedicated as i consider myself to be still doesnt feel the need to buy singles from my favourites bands.

Sure, i have everything else Bon Jovi have ever released, countless versions of different albums, 40+ bootlegs and a number of collectibles aswell as all the solo stuff etc, but i must have only about 5 or 6 singles mostly only bought before an album comes out.

Nearly all of the better bsides from the earlier singles i tracked down online and i now think i have them all. What may attract me to actually buy a single would be a bonus documentary or video or something.

From looking at the trackistings of the singles from HAND so far i wonder who in their right mind would want to buy them if they already have the album? Sure, there are people out there who just want to complete their BJ collection which is fair enough- but these arent the majority of the record buying public who are responsible for charting the single.

Which leads me to the possible assumption that a large proportion of the general public that buy the 2nd and 3rd singles from an album do so as they do not have the album in the first place (and not for the bsides) and do not represent Bon Jovi's 'hardcore' fanbase.

And for the price of these singles they could of bought the album in the first place anways, buts thats another matter.

I don't buy the singles. The last Bon Jovi singles i bought were Always and This Ain't a Love Song (on cassette).

I buy singles, I started in 2000 when I became a fan and since then I've bought all the singles I could find here. Now I'm starting to buy some older ones on eBay...

I don't buy singles, but I would. The only reason I don't is because I can't ever find them
There is no store around me that sells single (of Bon Jovi). That and I'm not a huge fan of ordering things on the net.

I went for the first option because I've bought all of the singles on release for the past couple of albums, but if there was a single which had 0 b-sides, or if they were just album tracks that I already had then I wouldn't bother. With Bounce there were some good demo tracks and a couple of live/acoustic ones I think, and this time just live tracks, which I didn't have before, as they were only released (I think) on some Walmart special CD.

I tend to buy the limited edtions or live bonus tracks

"I may buy the odd one for bsides/bonus material etc"

Yeah, but the last one I bought was All About Loving You, I think.

You know, I was going to post the same thing!! Where I am, they stopped selling singles after Bounce for some reason, so it's been a pain in the butt to track down singles, especially from HAND.

i have got every UK cd single they have released, correct me if im wrong but the first official uk cd single was bad medicine, but i also like collecting rare imports too,

I've bought every new single from Blaze of Glory on - I wasn't going to bother with WSYCGH, because I didn't think the b-sides were worth the money...but the collector/gotta have every thing the band release mentality won over in the end...the b sides have been really poor for HAND though.
