ok sorry if this as been discussed before but i just download i wont back down by tom petty the day and to me theif of hearts is just a copy of that song to a certain extent IMO!!!!!! anyone agree??

I was thinking the same when I downloaded "I Wont Back Down" about half year ago.... But I noticed that just a month ago or something. I wouldn't say copy but pretty same rhytm... Who cares, Thieve Of Hearts is better and it's more meaningfull.

They sound very similar, and a lot of artists "borrow" fragments from their favourite artists (Petty is one of Jon's), so I think that's what happened.

Anyway, good ear, I thought that as well when I first heard it.

lol i was sitting listening to the song and i was like, hold on a minute iv heard that before! then came the hey baby bit and i found myself going u better listen to me now!!

at least it's not such a blatant rip off as that chili peppers track 'Dani California' thats rips Petty's song 'Mary Jane's Last Dance'
