an acoustic version of you really got me?

i'm having trouble imagining what that would sound like

i've heard a swing version but i'm struggling to imagine an acoustic version. you'll have to post to gaz.

unless you really slowed it down and done some sort of arpeggio or fingerstyle on it i can't see it working.

i think it'd be hideous if you just played it like the original

i got tickets to see ray davies last week :-)

the show last night went better than we expected

the crowd were brill lol, we ended up playin like 1hr 45 mins

the set list went through the window although we did play a few from it but we missed out you really got me, 3am, breakfast at tiffanys, never say goodbye.

on the other hand we sang everything from waterloo sunset, patience, dont look back in anger, new york groove, more than words (hard lol), dont look back in anger, drive, im on fire, sweet home alabama then wanted then we lent a few guitars and plugged in and lent a drummer and bassist from the previous set.

so we played livin on a prayer, the boys are back in town, house of the rising sun, misunderstood, its still rock and roll to me, once bitten twice shy, since youve been gone, cum on feel the noise, damned, ill sleep when im dead (hate that song) then we finished with nothin but a good time.

bein the last act is the best because you get alot longer than your allocated hour if your 1st 2nd or 3rd on the bill. plus when your on early no ones in and your playinto the barmaid lol. so luckily we sold the most tickets so we got the last place on the bill.

last night instead of goiing to plan was more of a requests type of gig, we got asked some stupid requests eg ace of spades, dont cry, smokin in the boys room. an i was like i cant sing that at all lol. i asked if they wanted to sing but they were like no chance.

all in all it was very spontaneous because by the end of the night we were playin someone elses guitars with two people who wed never played with before lol but it worked thank god. the only **** up was the drumming on nothin but a good time at the end partly becuase the drummer was like 28 and pissed lol.

but next time i will deffinatley be bringin our other bandmembers for backup lol, when we plugged in we could have played our stuff but the two lads on bass an drums restricted us, they were good, knew more than us but still it wasnt the same.

as for the you really got me it is kinda kick ass acoustic the way we play it cant really explain it its sorta the double guitar iron maiden sorta way that sounds awesome.

oh and we got like £50 tips which is huge lol plus the £100 and £50 bonus for sellin all the tickets. so it was £200 for one nights work, well not work really just a laugh and the corwd was really good becuase they were all pissed but still they were singin along lol was well good.

btw the acoustic recordin is listenable just
the electric one is just noise lol

i want to hear this version of you really got me. out of all the kinks tunes it would be very low down the agenda for doing an acoustic version of im really interested to hear how it turns out.

the way we play it i dunno it sounds alright nothin special but i write the set list pass it duff he changes it about a bit then gives it me back and boom that was on it

i know weve played it acoustic in practise before but its never been one weve played on stage. but in his house with two acoustics its always sounded ok because he plays it differently. its like an iron maiden version guitar wise, its mad. but we missed it out anyway and played waterloo sunset instead.

we do a cracking versoin of waterloo sunset.

it's got bign electric guitars but still manages to be easy to listen to. we pretty much stole the version from bowie's cover of it on the reality tour.

ive got a great version of the stranglers doing you really got me too i want us to try out but that tune needs rocked up if anything instead of mellowed out imo.
