when i get back im going to try and hammer into some these days solo's.

wer you talkin to me then jim???

nah i was talking to andy about practicing.

case in point: i played "rythmn" in my band ie no solos though i did get to play lots of little cool licks and stuff and wasnt just resigned to chords so to be honest i'd get my arse kicked at solo-ing on here in most probability but for rythmn i'd hold me own.

ok shredding is great but its not really my style. i can shred but i dont really focus on it too much. i prefer a more slow and soulful approach a bit like my track. I dont think the objective of playing the guitar is to go as fast as you can as much as you can but i agree it is an art. Just not me. Look forward to the tapes being posted.

I have some randy rhoads solos i can post from the same era as my ballad if anyone is interested in them. Im quite proud of them as this was the way i practised by learning randy solos, they are a little more technical than richies so i figured if i can nail randys theni can nail richies.

ive never liked shredding at all as in the weedly weedly shit thats all over the 80s thats why ive never really got into "fast" soloing.

i'd rather play something cool like a stones or bowie solo that has a bit of feeling and you can really dig into than just weedle away for 3 minutes but if you guys set the challenge ill take it up when i get back from busking.

I hear you, i wasnt getting any better by keeping playing richie solos over and over again, after all they are mainly pentatonic based. that why i took up randy rhoads stuff, definately helped.

As i said before its all about the feel of the guitar, string bending and especially vibrato is a huge part of capturing the feeling.

to me rythmn is easy its just learnin how to formulate chords and different patterns, but im not dissin it cos im a rythmn player and its cool, but i get to play easier solos eg some bon jovi , most bryan adams and early 70's and eighties whereas duff plays all our own originals and more challenging stuff that requires 2 guitars (eg kiss)

its sort of a give and take thing duff has no problem in takin a back seat as a lead guitarist and lettin me have abit of lean way, which is why i wanted him in my band, he doesnt so much show off and try and steal the limelight he just does a hell of a job and gets on with it.

anyway who the **** knows how to spell rhythum??? lol
