Cheers for your opinion, tho my cuz thought urs was amongst the best when i played them to him, a pretty impressive player himself, altho the dips may be there, they have to played correctly or i may as well not have them in my attempt.

andy_ash 09-22-2006 04:19 PM

i don't think they were bad at all, like you said the first ones are hardly noticable anyway.

sstefazy 09-22-2006 09:10 PM

true, i guess, anyways here's my attempt at BOR , i haven't mixed it with a backing track just yet tho. Value ur inputs again.

http://www.putfile.com/stef147

andy_ash 09-22-2006 10:03 PM

the main thing i picked up was that there was a couple of notes missing in the middle bit (the fast part) it sort of sounds as if it dies towards the end of the run. nothing major though.

apart from that not a bad attempt. will sound better with the backing as well.

gazthomas 09-22-2006 10:27 PM

just had practice last night an i seemed to do well

so ive booked a gig for monday night , ok all im doin is aplying rhythum but surely and surely im getting there

hope i can post my final versions of BOR and NSG just in time, if not u guys dont wait for me and just go ahead with it

im hopin that i will be around 80% next week so i will try to post something around thurs - friday

o and jim i have that DC you were askin for but putfile wont upload the whole file because its over 25 meg so ill have to send it online if anyone else want to hear it just give us a shout

Yeah, i need to listen to that part again, i looked at the official tab, but wasn't happy with it, there are a few notes missing, just have to figure out what they are, only had a short time to record it yesterday, cheers, Stef

what i tend to play ( not always perfectly) is:

e-------13-12-10-----------------------10-------------
b-------------------13---10----------10----10---13^---
g-------------------------------12^--------------------

i think that's what it is anyway, haven't got my guitar with me so i'm having to try and remember. i know the "e" on the 12th fret isn't really there in the original but the notes are so fast anyway you can't really tell. for some reason it just makes it easier for me to get my fingers in the right place if i play the "e".

Ah ok, i stopped at the 10 on the e, as the tab i ad finished on 13 on the b which i knew wasn't what richie finished on, but adding a string bend on the 13 will sound more like it! cheers.

gazthomas 09-26-2006 12:53 AM

whitesamborastrat 09-27-2006 12:07 AM

I dont mean to sound cynical as i am relatively new around here but it seems that every time Gaz posts something there is always a story behind it. It kind of feels like an excuse like when kids say to the teacher sorry but my dog chewed my homework.

Dont take it the wrong way Gaz it just an observation.

Andy

imnot just dont make accusations

im not making excuses im being honest if you listen to the recordings you can see clearly i was having problems with my voice and i couldnt get my breath

whitesamborastrat 09-27-2006 12:30 AM

again im not accusing you of anything im just stating a fact for a new guy it seems that whenever you record something ther is always a proviso to it.

the point i made was valid. you're quick off the mark to run down people's work and not in a nice or constructive way and as whitesamborastrat said, you never put up a "final" version.

o **** off

all the pressure is on me again

whitesamborastrat 09-27-2006 12:54 AM

Ok Gaz, your reaction seems a little over the top in my opinion. All this talk about unsubscribing, "you ****ing lot" etc. It seems i have rattled your cage as i said before dont take it to heart.. It was just an observation

Andy

ive said ti before ill say it again

i love my music but i hate it when i try and i really do ****in try 100% or not. i posted 1 song just 1 song to boost this thread up a little.

ok heres the so called 'excuses'

bout 3 weeks ago i banged my hand on the radiator in my house and could not close my right (picking hand) fully so that is why there was no final BOR or NSG i just couldnt play for any longer than 20 seconds. plus i have been getting shit from my band about not placing any bookings for clubs and not having practice. so on thursday night i thught **** it ill book a gig. so off i went booked the ****ing gig and played on sunday night, we played about 1 hr 30 mins with regular breaks because my hand was still playing up, despite this i tried to compensate by singing every song note perfect and pushing myslef to the limit. even then after the show i was still getting stickfrom the band like whycant you be like that all the shows and whens our next gig blah blah blah

then comes monday morning my throat is sore my hand is even wose and i can hardly breathe, yes im ill. but i was still on a high so i thought ill go home record a track an just bump this thread up a little so off i went.

so here i am now being questioned by you people who know **** all about what i have been through for the past 3 weeks musically, i gave it my all on sunday burnedmyslelf out, made myself ill. my throat is ripped to bits and for what a measley £200 and a lashing off you all saying im grabbing for excuses

well excuse me i aint that guy

whitesamborastrat 09-27-2006 01:15 AM

Ok Gaz when you put it like that i guess i owe you an apology, So please accept it and i look forward to hearing some of your better efforts. Just to make my stance clear on this though (not just for you but for anyone else), if those tracks were your best efforts i would rather people say that this is my best shot at it. I feel that most people including myself would respect that more than someone trying to make an excuse (again not aiming this directly at you) because that way we can offer advice and guidance and playing tips etc.

We were all starting out once but no one should bash a genuine beginner

andy

i not a beginnner, i dont admit when im wrong, i dont accept apologies, i dont listen to advice, i never put across my best attempt, im always right, i dont respect anyone

im a rockstar

gazthomas 09-27-2006 01:18 AM

im just shit of all the bashing i get just because its my band an i have to do all the hard work then i come here play a few licks nothin special and then get ripped up 4 it when no one knows the score

Jim Bon Jovi 09-27-2006 01:21 AM

you're telling me a club paid your band £200 a member for a gig on a sunday night that was booked half a week in advance?

sounds like more bullshit to me mate, just like your hand being done in for 3 weeks for hitting it on a heater and your "cold". hitting bum notes has absolutely nothing to do with a sore throat.

whitesamborastrat 09-27-2006 01:22 AM

Gaz im not bashing you as i said its just an observation.

And by the way we are all beginners, even the best are still learning.

we always get £200 from the rendezvous cos jamie knows the fella who owns it and is the standard pay for any band

as for the heater (well radiator) i clearly did hit my hand on it and it did get worse the more i played

and as for the cold. to me this is ****ing blatently obvious and needs no 'excuse' im not messing if u listen to my voice normally it sounds **** all like i does on that recording my voie sounds alot more clogged up and its hard forme to get all the words in

for ****s sake

Jim Bon Jovi 09-27-2006 01:43 AM

ive never met anyone who's sang with a cold that has suffered anything other than their voice sounding more nasal and choked. never seen anyone hitting massive bum notes all through a song.

but hey maybe that's just me.

i'm sure you'll prove me wrong by putting up your note perfect version of dry county once your hand has healed.
