What is everyone expecting?
 

Hi -

Newbie here on the drycounty boards but a huge Jovi fan since 84, seeing them live quite a bit since the Slippery tour, I'm just wondering why everyone has huge expectations for the stadium shows. Don't get me wrong, I'll be hitting Foxboro and the last Giants show and I would love to hear some rare tracks (Dry County, Wild Is The Wind, maybe Let it Rock?) but I just don't see it happening. The fans in Europe always get the better setlists because These Days and some later cds were huge there and they only play there for a month while some states get them 2 or more times per tour, in America they just play the hits. I'm very disappointed in there not being more songs from HAND becase I love that cd and still haven't heard "Last Cigarette" live but I think we should all have fun at the shows but try not to get too disappointed, I remember when the first couple of shows in the beginning on the HAND tour when the setlists were listed and everyone bitched about them, I was the 2 Mohegan Sun shows in CT and the first one was awesome and to be honest the 2nd show was probably the worst Bon Jovi show I've ever seen, the show was short and the setlist sucked. I'm hoping for better or more rare songs too but I'm going to the shows with the thought of hearing all the hits and maybe something random (These Days...heard that one at Mohegan on Bounce tour...shocked the shit out of me..) but if I don't oh well. I'll still be going to all the shows on the east coast when the next cd comes out. I was just curious to why everyone's expectations are so high on this stadium tour.... Thanks

That 2nd Mohegan show is when Jon had the shredded vocal chords so that's why it was so short. He'd been told by his doctor to cancel the show.

Yea, the stadium shows in the US, are a bit tricky because sooooo many fans come for more of the "event" of the show meaning the tailgating, hanging out, etc. So, they want the hits and they want a rocking, fun bunch of songs.

I'd love to hear a rare song or two but I don't know if that's going to happen so I won't go expecting it. I'll be at the Foxboro and last Giants show too! YAY!!

Oh and I got to hear Last Cigarette a few times on the winter HAND tour in the US. It was great!

But it's weird, guys have been on the road for 20 years now and still they have to prove something... doesn't sound right... Maybe they just don't wanna play rare songs... that is easier solution I'd say.. :sad:

I'd like to think we'll get something rare on the 29th. So far the 2 summer set lists have sucked, but we got I'd Die For You at Hard Rock and Montreal got Wild in the Streets....not too shabby. We'll soon see.....

But I don't think it is so good to get one rare song out of twenty.. There should be some base list like 10 to 15 songs but those other 10 should be something different... Why can't they do that, they've been playing that same setlist since Crush tour and added few new songs from releashed album. Something rare and big time please!

I expect to hear Bad Name, followed immediately by that piece of crap Complicated, and later topped off with Richie singing I'll Be There for You.

Aside from that, I expect a really good show and I hope that Jon's allergies won't be acting up from being outside.
