I just want to comment that, since religion is in the most countries of the world closely connected to nationality. Even though many of the countries in the western world doesn't have this, the most countries still do. So I would say that it isn't fair to only speak of religions as the main factor behind wars, but also cultures.

And, I find it hard to believe that anyone would like to erase cultures, as people might want to do with religions.

Very good point, EriK, and I agree!!

Krb asks a religious question he doesn't care if he gets answered. People try to have an intelligent conversation. Religion haters jump in and do their thing. Some religious people take offense at that and the unwinnable debate begins. Krb sits back and laughs.

How am I doing so far? Did I miss anything?

I'm guilty of breaking this rule too - I thought maybe, for a change, Krb wanted something other than chaos, confusion, and disorder. But here's a good rule for everyone - Look, but don't touch, and certainly don't feed the trolls.

We all know people have the right to believe whatever they want, or not. We all know some people take their belief, or lack of belief too far. Big deal. No one should be judged by the actions of others. Just because you don't believe something, there's no need to be a jerk about it and ridicule others every chance you get. There's a flip side to that coin too - just because you believe something doesn't mean you need to be a jerk about it and bang everyone over the head with it. Sooner we all learn to live together PEACEABLY the sooner this world will resemble the ideal Christ intended - an ideal that I think anyone, Christian, Buddhist, aethist, agnostic, or Muslim could embrace.

Agree with all this, but don't blame krb for starting a debate, (or asking a question ;))
We're not 10 years old anymore, it's not his fault.
Even without religious subject there are always arguments about anything here (with always the same bored persons thinking they know better than everyone on every subject !), but for sure when you bring something like religion it's just worst ... sorry to say that but you see it's always the case !

And i bet Kevin knew this will end like that, not only on jt, but everywhere you'd start a conversation on this subject. Of course he knew, as other persons on here know when some conversation will turn badly, but they're not krb so people let them do ....

Well .. in fact i wouldn't say he doesn't care if he don't get any answer, i'm sure he's interested to see what people think. And you opened your minds to him :)

Now he is a person you can have intelligent conversation with, his knowledge is amazing and he never say anything he's not sure about.
If he is a troll then more than half on here are too.

His question is really a good one, but of course, who can bring an answer ? of course on 100 persons maybe with a good luck 1/4 will say the same thing, no chance to get "the" answer which everyone will agree about it. But it could be a interesting conversation. And sometimes answers are interesting to read (depends who wrote them ....)

maybe you have had intelligent conversations with krb offline, but he certainly isn't having any on this board.

Krb asks questions to hackle. He will only address posts that allow him to ridicule the posters opinion and that will further cause controversy. I have yet to read anything of particular intelligence posted by him. To stir up controversy is not a sign of intelligence (though I don't doubt krb being intelligent).

This thread is a classic example of that. He got some really good answers/theories/suggestions, yet he didn't even acknowledge those, but chose to pick on posters that seemed easy prey. A very krb move :)

And the same people are impressed by that --- too funny!

Isn't that always the case? With any conversations? Some posters, in fact, are so incredibly passive aggressive, trying to take obvious jabs while worshiping the same old people it is quite amusing actually!!

It is funny that people complain that I post shit that creates controversy. If it were anyone else who posted then nothing would be said. If you want to read a board where everyone agrees go to www.IAmAChristianAndILoveGod.com. If you want to have a dicsussion come here and shut the **** up when someone creates a post which promotes discussion. Twats.

No one's complaining about controversy. No one wants total agreement on everything. But from what I've read of your posts (I still remember the one where you accused Jon Bon Jovi of being a child molestor), the only thing I can imagine you want is ill-will. I mean, what skin is it off your nose if Jim goes to Egypt or not?

And here I am, breaking the rule I recommended...
