Wanted rip off?

Donīt think this has been discussed here before. Read about this @ Metal Sludge Gossip Board and noticed that they were talking about Shooter Jenningsī Gone To Carolina being a Wanted rip off. What do you think? Sounds pretty obvious to me. ...

just a slowed down version IMO

Spikeout 07-19-2006 10:51 PM

Smilarties are there but nothing to shout about.

TheseDays2005 07-19-2006 11:06 PM

no this is more a ripp of of the song of wich wanted was a ripp of, and too be more precice, the wanted tlfr was more a ripp of of the song that this song is a ripp of of

The bass line in the chorus is practically identical, but that is about it. And really, considering how many musical notes there are and how many songs are written, it's not surprising that sometimes you'll get something which sounds similar. I don't think it's a rip off.

Sounds way too similar to just be a coincidence. Definitely 'inspired' by Wanted I reckon.

xJoviJerseyx 07-21-2006 09:51 AM

its funny.. you can sing wanted right over it..

its very similar imo.

Alphavictim 07-21-2006 04:06 PM

It's definitely a soundalike, with all the cowboyish-vibe and general feeling. Hell, they even added a boogie-woogie piano!

Yeah I know, but not all country songs sound like white men shooting indians to me. I mean, some country borders on folk, some just have the typical steel guitars, and some are just laid back radio rock. With all the other given factors I guess it's not only because of it being a country song. The other way around, if you take Blaze Of Glory (the album), the songs all have the cowboy-vibe, but not all of them are country songs.

Oh, and when's that "state of the blog"-adress coming?

No, not all country songs have that cowboy vibe, but to claim a song is a rip-off of a Bon Jovi song because of that vibe credits them with inventing it, which they certainly did not. That's Waylon Jenning's son, I'll bet you $20 whatever cowboy inspiration he has doesn't come from one Bon Jovi song.

I don't know. I don't hear "rip-off" when I listen to it. Maybe I'm not listening hard enough.

And a blog update will come when I have something more to say than "I'm a bit disillusioned with Bon Jovi at the moment so I have no idea when I'll be motivated enough to update."
