What makes BJ so great!!
 

Hey everyone,
Just today I was thinking to myself, exactly why Bon Jovi are so popular and possibly the greatest band of all time???

and this is what I came up with.....

Right throughout Bon Jovi's career there has always been a certain resistance from the majority of the music listeners to rock music. However Bon Jovi have always managed to create Rock music that was worth listening to, and has sold well (This includes the 80's too).

When they first hit the scene in the 80's Rock was almost non-existant in the charts, but Bon Jovi were bold enough to say "this is our music, even if it isn't the trend", and obviously it has paid off with them being classed as rock legends.

Even today Bon Jovi is still fighting towards having rock more accepted, as its the trend at the moment to have artists like Britney spears, Christina aguilera etc, just show as much as possible (ie little amount of clothes), to get huge sales, and beat real talent like Bon Jovi.

However they have fought this battle all throught their careers, and have been (in my opinion) the best rock band ever!

I absolutely agree with you.
Plus I think that Bon Jovi perfectly combine great Rock Anthems (or Rock Ballads) with meaningful lyrics. They don´t just sing some crap but songs wich really mean something. And they put a lot of emotion in their songs, they give them a soul and you can see that they LOVE their job. I think that´s also important. And all those things together make Bon Jovi the best band in the world :D

I agree, I think that one of the reasons is that their lyrics are always 'real-life', they sing about what really happens in everyday life, it's something that everybody can relate to.

I really like them for their inspirational anthems (Livin' on a prayer, It's my life, Everyday, Undivided, Bounce etc.)

They're really a great hard rock band, the tough one! :wink:

for me i think its the power and faith of their songs and lyrics...their rock ballads are very meaningful too...i think when ppl get attached to a certain member(s) it means more...for me when richie plays that certain note or sings that certain lyric, makes the spine tingle...its like a bond of friendship and aasurance when times are bad...and a bod of great happiness when times are great...ultimately they are so great because their music and words relate to all ppl...regardless of colour or race..

I totally agree with all of you. IMO it's so important that you can identify with the songs and to know that there are some people behind them who believe in what they sing/play. It's not just a song with a rhytm that you can't get out of your mind - it's more: the lyrics, the rhytm, the melody and the feeling what the guys make that all sound so amazing.

I agree....It's all about the lyrics. They have an incredible writing ability. Then they top it off by being able to deliver the music to the fans. They are awesome in every aspect of rock-n-roll. I can't say enough good things about Bon Jovi!!!
