News Media Milking Deaths in War

Not that this is a groundbreaking idea that the media loves carnage, but I thought it was relevent as many people in the ridiculously titled Did Hitler Have the Right Idea thread were discussing the accuracy of the media. So I decided to show it in a new thread. It shows the bias in the media or at least the bias which is born from them media obsession with death.

WARNING: Please don't look at this link unless you are prepared to see the carnage of war.

http://eureferendum.blogspot.com/200...ilking-it.html

These are graphic pictures of the Qana mess taken by Reuters, a source for many photos in papers/news agencies across the US and Europe.

the job of the media is to report news. war and therefore death is news.
in most countries you have to search for these kind of images. we should not be protected from the realities of war. that is not milking it

Jim Bon Jovi 08-05-2006 03:53 AM

call me cynical but if israel hadn't bombed the place, the opportunity to "milk" pictures like that would be greatly reduced...

just saying y know.

Living in the Land of the Rising Paedophile Penises, sorry I mean Japan, I am unfortunate in that my cable company only offers CNN. There is one cunt, I don't know his name, who always has a smile on one side of his face when he is reporting death. He is about 50 years old. If anyone can't post a picture of the fellow I will give you a few brownie ponts. Cant be bothered to look for it myself.

Anyway, CNN always report a bombing (for example) and then say that they can't show the scenes of the dead victims because they are too gruesome. I don't understand this. They masturbate to death and violence, they dramatise it by adding dramatic music and subjective and opinionated commentary from 'reporters'. It's a ****ing joke of a network. I was staying in a hotel last week and saw the BBC's Hardtalk. That is a proper news channel. Not ****ing CNN. Cunting Not News is what it should stand for. CNN=CUNTS.

American news=entertainment. Shove that in your anus.

http://mypetjawa.mu.nu/archives/184206.php

Here are two more ridiculous showings of leftist bias in the media. Reuters, probably the most cited photo/journalism source in the world milking death and just plain lying. At the very least, unaware and unbelieveably inept. This story is just heating up and goes in concert with the fact that Reuters and Lebanese listed 60 or so deaths in Lebanon the other day, when really there were only, reportedly, 27 or less now. Reuters again and again reuses photos from previous attacks as well in order to twist the minds of people against Israel.

Here's another great example of fair European news.

http://mypetjawa.mu.nu/archives/184203.php

Now tell me again why FOX is any worse than your bias lying media over there? Yeah, they get it wrong now and again and they often grossly editorialize, but they have never done anything like this. These are just plain lies. And Reuters was in charge of their dissemination. They are either inept and ignorant of ethics and photoshop, or they let it slip by and did not question it because of a bias. Those are the only explanations.

http://littlegreenfootballs.com/webl...om_Beirut&only

Keep in mind the immense weight Reuters carries in the world media.

http://powerlineblog.com/archives/014919.php

Here are two photos used by Reuters both taken on the same day in the same site but said to be taken months apart.

So glad I have so many sources for news, including FOX, not just BBC or Reuters.

The pictures are staged and glorify Hezbollah and elicit sympathy not fairness. And they are used again and again as supposed pictures from different bombings when they are infact, only from one day in which the reporter followed the Hezbollah around.

This 'news' is so twisted as to be propoganda for Hezbollah.

So don't talk to me about FOX being biased (except Geraldo there is no excuse for Geraldo or his moustache or Greta VanSustran...). This is all proof of much worse ethics violations than anything FOX has done. People need to check several sources for their news.

Call me a realist, but I believe it is a violation of international law (and a treaty Hezbollah/Lebanon agreed to in 2000 I believe) to fire rockets (for years and just before this conflict) at Israel and raid Israel and take Israelie soldiers captive.

This is what began this month-long ordeal. Not Israel. And Lebanon and its government and military and people sure aren't trying to stop Hezbollah and they never have. They may almost as well be the same entity.

Good point.

I liken it to the US and Canada. If the Canadians (or even a political Canadian subgroup) were lobbing rockets across our border and then kidnapped a few American soldiers - George Bush would make sure that there would be hell to pay. At the very least there would be retaliation. What makes Israel any different?

i doubt said retalitaion would involve bombing downtown toronto....

ive not seen one person here or anywhere else say that israel shouldn't be doing something, but the problems people have are what and how israel is retaliating.

just thought id send a quick reply to this in particular from above website that you decided to quote . and quote something else from the same site.

" Every time we do something you tell me America will do this and will do that . . . I want to tell you something very clear: Don't worry about American pressure on Israel. We, the Jewish people, control America, and the Americans know it."

im not sure why you have linked these sites? i have never heard of them before im not sure how many people have? they seem to be a bit of a joke really.

Incidentally i think one of the main reasons fox gets so much criticism is because of the constant use of "fair and balanced" the most ludicrous claim i have ever heard.

if you want to debate whether or not fox is indeed fair and balanced we can do that?

(ps just read your Skeleton Key thread beavoid and i no longer want to argue with someone who can produce such utter brilliance)

This story has been on FOX, Drudge, and around the world now. It is true. If you would read the site or check Reuters, they have fired the photographer and removed all of his pictures. LGF is simply the site that broke the story. I hadn't been there until the other day either, just wanted to give them credit where credit was due. And this 'joke' of a site just exposed a major scandal that affected news around the world. Some joke...

Again, my point is not necessarily the superiority of FOX News, but that 'acceptable' news from Europe is at least as bias in the other direction and can be much more unethical in its practices. Therefore, you must get your news from varying sources.

Im sure they will be happy to recieve your "oh so brilliant" credit. what an honour. So one rouge reporter behaves in this way and gets fired , and this proves what ? its one person. it says nothing about reuters and it certainly doesnt support your idea that reuters is unreliable or bias.

US opposes Israeli offensive

Email this Story

9 Aug, 9:33 PM

The White House said that it opposes Israel's decision to escalate the violence in the Mideast by deciding to order ground troops deeper into Lebanon to attack Hezbollah targets.

Although White House press secretary Tony Snow said the message was for both sides, his remarks came as Israel's Security Cabinet voted to expand its war effort.

The criticism was among the strongest the Bush administration has issued against Washington's long-time ally since the fighting began four weeks ago.

"We are working hard now to bridge differences between the US position and some of the positions of our allies," Snow told reporters gathered near President Bush's ranch, where he is on holiday. "We want an end to violence and we do not want escalations."

Meanwhile, rifts over a plan to stop the fighting at the UN Security Council delayed approval of a resolution.

A draft proposed by the US and France fell apart, and the two countries were offering competing visions.

France proposed new language on a total ceasefire and Israeli pullout, but the US rejected it out of concern that the Lebanese cannot assert control over Hezbollah strongholds in the south without help from a robust international force.

"The Lebanese army, while an absolutely essential part of any solution, is not itself independently capable of dealing with the problem, at least not yet," Snow said.

Snow said the US was working on another draft resolution, but he would not estimate when a vote might be possible.

"I think at this point it's beyond any of us to come up with a firm prediction about when you get a resolution," he said.

good news imo. the US are probably the only state that can stop or prevent israel doing anything (if thats even possible) and hopefully realising they don't have unquestioning support from the US will make them rethink some tactics.

I didn't say it was right to do so. I only said that my government is talking out of both sides of their mouths. Personally - I am against war and mass weapons. Unfortunately most men believe that this is how to get their point across - and if you read history - it's been going on forever..

true. one of the exams ive to sit for uni next week is war, terrorism and conflict and there's just so many levels and so many aspects of conflict that it'll never stop in some capacity.

i'm pretty sure im getting a question on jus ad bellum or jus in bello and ill have plenty to write about with regards to israels present actions and the US in iraq :-(

maybe veering off topic slightly..but on the news last night they were showing clips from the new 9.11 disaster movie (not documentary). Watching The Twin Towers with disaster movie sound track added made my skin crawl! I just cannot begin to understand why a movie like this has been made.... Eventually, something will have to change. In Israel's case, this was their choice of action. War and conflicts can never be eliminated because nobody thinks alike and there will always be groups of vile people like those of Hezbollah who twist things and thrive on peoples' understanding and sympathy. And they will always, eventually, have to be eliminated one way or another. Working out a peace treatie with them is like telling a lion it must become a vegan. And even if they did sign it, it would only mean more deaths later as well as acceptance of their viewpoint on Israelie extermination as legitimate, which it is not. Any treatie would be a lie becuase their sole mission is the extermination of Israel and their own rise to power. Lions can't live in the human population and they come at you, you must kill them if you can.

And, once again, Lebanon sure isn't helping in this matter. Their leaders support Hezbollah openly and their army does nothing to stop Hezbollah or condemn their viewpoints or actions or protect its people, and its people do and say nothing. Israel accepted Lebanon and Palestinian sovereinty long ago, but they continue to be attacked by them. Lebanon is a puppet government for Iran and Syria through and through.

There are missiles raining down on Israel, from an organisation who use civilian areas to fire from. And you just want them to throw a couple back and get round the table again? It's just not realistic at all and not as simple as you want it to be. Be careful who you paint out to be the villains.

That is precisely NOT what Israel is doing. If Israel wanted to simply destroy Lebanon, they could have now or last year or at any time. The reason they are not is because they value the lives of the citizens there and do NOT want to exterminate them. Please follow the news or read the previous posts before typing a response.

Even that lefty shock-jock reporter (self described as such in his bio) says Hezbollah is evil and vile and sympathy for them is ridiculous. Yet still you hold sympathy for them. Just because the Lebanese people cannot see past the Hezbollah propoganda and hatred for Israel in general or for doing what must be done, doesn't mean you must be the same way. In the article he does not offer sympathy for Hezbollah. This article also mocks your previous notion that Israel is out to wipe out Lebanon. This was a poor article to choose in support of your viewpoint.

I will not propose a solution to this problem until I read more on it and get back to you. But I will ask: if you would just let it happen then and accept it as part of life? Many UN treaties have been signed and Israel is always the loser in the agreements here and palestinians continue to defile Israelie sovereignty.

If it is, those attacks were coming anyway and would have been much worse later. As I and YOUR reporter friend have stated, sympathy for Hezbollah is ridiculous. They are terrorists and people who would go after Israel for defending themselves are either Terrorists (like the syrian government or the Iranian govenment) or sheep following a herd and not examining the big picture. They should be upset with their own government for supporting Hezbollah and allowing them to gain this power and letting them continue this battle. The Lebanese government has failed.

And, again, Israel is precisely NOT destroying an entire nation of people. This would have been done weeks ago if that was their aim. Lebanon would already be obliterated.

lol i was taking the piss its called sarcasm.

i dont give a damn if these pictures were fake or not. the moron that faked them has been sacked. the fact remains that we are 5 weeks from when Israel started bombing and they are still going.

my only concern is for innocent people being killed. we need to see a ceasefire within the next week. i hope it happens.

This all ties in with what has happened here this week. not directly but it is part of it. its a very fraught time.

There cannot be a ceasefire unless Lebanon agrees to a chapter 7 UN resolution, and they will not because the government and many of the people support Hezbollah, in part because of this kind of propoganda which induces sympathies towards Hezbollah. Lebanon agreed to many things, the last of which (I think) was a chapter 6 resolution which did not allow UN troops to do anything but defend themselves. Essentially they were useless and it was just 'diplomacy' at its finest yet again from the UN while Hezbollah attacked Israel for years. The UN needs to have the power to initiate and stifle the Hezbollah because Lebanon itself has shown time and again that it is not up to the task and does not wish to do so.

A country that diluted and corrupt, in my opinion, does not deserve sovereignty because it is run by terrorists. So, any mercy shown to it is a gift. And there has been enough mercy shown.
