Nice one Newcastle!!!! ......

although, you should have won it with Dyer's shot straight at Cech! Grrrr!

Jim Bon Jovi 04-22-2007 09:07 PM

that's celtic won the scottish league with a late winner but they're going to struggle next season especially at this point because rangers won't go fubar early on in the season like they did this year.

how many games are left in the premiership? ther race between chelsea and man u is keeping me interested.

RS8MB0R8 04-22-2007 09:26 PM

Four games left for Chelsea and United with the penultimate match on 9 May between the two sides at Stamford Bridge looking ever the more crucial!

Quite close down at the foot of the table too with any of five or six sides being potential relegation candidates this season. Personally, I hope West Ham manage to claw their way out of trouble but that means the most likely replacement side is likely to be Sheffield United who I kinda want to stay up cos Neil Warnock is a great bloke! I'd wouldn't mind seeing either Wigan or Fulham taking the Hammers' place but it's a big ask unfortunately.

The Queen is a Gunner

Aston Villa may be able to claim the support of a future monarch, but the current incumbent supports Arsenal, it has emerged.

The Queen, like her late mother, has been a keen follower of the Gunners for 50 years according to reports.

Second in line to the throne, Prince William is widely recognised to be a fan of Aston Villa. He was born in 1982, the year the Midlands giants won the European Cup.

Players and officials of Arsenal were invited to a reception at Buckingham Palace in February after the Queen had to pull out of opening their new Emirates Stadium in October because of a bad back.

Arsenal's Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas said the Queen told him that she was a fan.

"It seems the Queen follows football and she told us she was an Arsenal fan. She appeared to definitely know who I was and we exchanged a few special words," he said.

A royal source told The Sun newspaper: "Her Majesty has been fond of Arsenal for over 50 years. Her late mother was a self-confessed Gooner, due largely to her admiration of their former player Denis Compton."

Compton, who played for England at football and cricket, won the league with Arsenal in 1948 and the FA Cup in 1950.

A: Well, they had photos of redshite players on them - folk couldn't figure out which side to spit on.

Oh boy, competition in Holland was a thriller end today.

AZ, PSV & Ajax had all the same point before they started there last match today (before play offs for european ticket).

Az lost and couldn't get champion. Ajax won 2-0 with last goal scored in 68' minute. PSV won with 5-1 with las goal scored in 72' minute.
PSV became champion with same points as Ajax but ONE goal more in total.

Jim Bon Jovi 04-30-2007 06:06 PM

last old firm game of the season on saturday. should be interesting to see how it turns out. i think it'll give us a good indication of how rangers and celtic are going to compete against each other next season.

saturday's a great day for sport in general. we've got that in the morning, some great english football on sky in the afternoon and oscar de la hoya is fighting on saturday night :-)

Leeds relegated after 10-point loss

Leeds have gone into administration so have incurred an immediate 10-point deduction which means they have been relegated to League One.

oh my..

UKjovi 05-05-2007 12:14 PM

oh my is the word , just think where they were 3 years ago

Yvonne 05-13-2007 11:24 PM

RS8MB0R8 05-14-2007 01:26 PM

I was actually feeling a little sorry for Sheffield United at the manner in which they've been relegated but looking at the comments both Neil Warnock and the chairman have made in the aftermath, I can't help but feel glad they've gone down.

For Warnock to turn around and say that Liverpool and United almost 'owed it' to Sheffield to play full strength squads against their relegation opponents is absolute crap! Why should the two clubs who are fighting it out for the last two trophies on offer this season sacrifice or put at risk their chances of success in favour of giving Sheffield United a break? Add to that the fact that, had Sheffield United faced the daunting prospect of playing Liverpool or Manchester United in their last run of games as Fulham and West Ham did and I think they probably got the easier run-in to the end of the season on paper!

The reason they and the other two teams have gone down is nobody-else's fault but their own. They didn't get the points throughout the season so that is why they are going down. All this bitterness towards West Ham is, quite frankly, juvenile and a bad case of sour grapes. They could have gone down with dignity but instead have elected to draw the Premier League into a farcical court case by launching a legal challenge against the Hammers. The only reason West Ham are staying up is because they have won 7 out of their last 9 games. They deserve it and, despite having no interest in West Ham myself, I am actually very happy they are going to be in the Premiership next season. It's a joke that anyone would think otherwise to be honest.

They faced a record punishment for what they did over the signings of Tevez and Mascherano but they have still managed to dig their way out of trouble amidst all of the controversy - fair play to them! To seek further punishment for them and trying to dictate to the people who make the big decisions over what action should have been taken is ridiculous and I wonder if any legal challenge would have come to light had West Ham gone down in Sheffield United's place?

I think not!

A bitter end to an otherwise fantastic season. :(

Hmmm, what am I gonna do for these empty, Premiership-less months now?!?

Woooohooooooo Get In Chelsea nice to see Utd suffer defeat in the last 5 mins for a change!!! :D

RS8MB0R8 05-20-2007 06:12 PM

Scum! :D

What an absolutely awful game though! That has to rank as one of the most boring matches I've ever been unfortunate enough to witness.

And as for the comment about United being beaten in the last minutes for a change, I don't know the exact stat but the number of times Chelsea have scored their opening goal in the last ten minutes of games this season is up there in the high teens at least - that's almost half of all their games!

May just have saved Mourinho's neck though!

BECKHAM IS BACK WOOHOO....

David Beckham has been recalled to the England squad for the friendly with Brazil and the crucial Euro 2008 trip to Estonia on June 6.

The former England skipper was dumped by new coach Steve McClaren following this summer's World Cup but after producing a series of superb performances for Real Madrid over the past few weeks, Beckham has now earned an emotional comeback.

The Real Madrid midfielder was restored to the squad on Saturday as McClaren revealed: "David was absolutely delighted as I knew he would be. He is coming into form and deserves to be here. We've got a very big game in Estonia coming up that we have to win and I've got to pick a squad capable of doing that. That's why I've picked David."

"Winning away at international level is very difficult anywhere and we need as much experience as we can get," he added.

McClaren attributed Beckham's recall to his form during the second half of the La Liga season.

"Since Christmas his form has been very good, I think he can help us win in Estonia and that's why I picked him," he told Sky Sports News.

"I feel at this moment, that for the Estonia game, we need experience and David certainly provides that. He is in very, very good form. The team needs that.

"David comes back as David Beckham the player, that's what we want on the field, doing what we know he can do."

McClaren continued: "There will be debate and opinion about it but at the end of the day it's my decision and a decision I think is best for England to produce a winning team that the fans can be proud of. I think David can be part of that.

"He's been picked in the squad and what the team is will be apparent nearer the time."

It represents an amazing about-turn in fortune for the 32-year-old, who believed he would remain stuck on 94 caps.

Beckham is by far the most notable member of a 26-man squad, which includes Aaron Lennon even though the Tottenham winger is almost certain to miss out after twisting a knee in Friday night's B international against Albania at Turf Moor.

Ashley Cole, Gary Neville, Andrew Johnson, Micah Richards, Owen Hargreaves and Ben Foster are all absent through injury, while Wayne Rooney - who was suspended for the Estonia game anyway - was not considered.

Preston's David Nugent misses out, despite scoring on his debut against Andorra in March, but Joe Cole is available, while Blackburn's David Bentley and Reading's Nicky Shorey are handed their first senior calls.

Having selected Beckham, it is impossible to envisage McClaren not starting with him against Brazil.

Although McClaren felt he needed to make a statement of intent about moving on from the Sven-Goran Eriksson era, with results going against him, bringing back the prodigal son was always on the cards.

Dawn 05-26-2007 06:45 PM

I think the England team that has been pick sounds good, shame Rooney isnt there but he needs to either grow up or stay away .

Mr Bluesman 05-26-2007 07:24 PM

Putting Beckham back in the squad is the best decision I've heard McClaren make so far for England. He's a big time player and I think England have missed him.

UKjovi 05-27-2007 01:35 PM

I'm glad Beckham is back but do you think it'll make much difference? after all we didnt realy do that well before did we?

Mr Bluesman 05-27-2007 02:46 PM

I don't think we've been much worse than in these qualifiers for a long while. I'm hoping to see that Beckham drive again, if he's looking to maintain his place in the squad he will have to work for it.

Mr Bluesman 05-29-2007 04:41 PM

Premiership... here we come!!
